Sakho

He's a our number one CB in my eyes, and the rest of the defenders should be competing to play alongside him, not the other way around.
Him plus a top CB would be a perfect combo. His passing is ace, he's a top bloke and in a team without personality he at least shows something to root for.

In fairness to Rodgers on this one, Lovren was given a chance for five games, which I think he probably had to do after spending 20m on him. I reckon Lovren won't get a look in again unless there's an injury.

Sakho needs to retain his place for Villa on Saturday.

Rodgers dropped Lovren for Sakho last season so I wasn't too surprised to see Sakho start against Norwich. I was expecting it after his good performance mid week and new contract being announced.

I think @studsup provided stats to show that Sakho started 16 games last season out of the 18 he was available for. This would deem him first choice in theory? Lovren started the season with two wins and two clean sheets. He kept his place on 'merit' and good faith on the back of two clean sheets. I use the term merit there very loosely. It didn't take long for Dejan to go all Lovren on us and was replaced by Sakho over the weekend. I hope this is the status quo now for the rest of the season.

Sakho is likeable, he is far from the answer though.
Should have cost us a goal yesterday and in general we could sell him for 10m and get someone much better

Sakho was great yesterday, except for one instance. He won every single other challenge. I'd take that every week over the other lummoxes we have in the position.

I don't know Gerry he had a decent run of games last year -

Think that's a bit harsh- you have to take into account this was his first EPL game this season - just one other outing last week in the Europa League- like others I thought he had an excellent game yesterday - Skrtels been nearly costing us goals on a regular basis and actually costing us goals since he arrived, so if anyone should go.......[emoji48]

Was that not when Sakho was injured? When Sakho was fit, he tended to play.

I think, anyway...
It does not really matter why it was G - he had a run of games long enough to form a judgement - I take the point though, apart from a decent game, this session has largely proven what we knew from last year. He has not got a clue on position, or how to defend. It's a bit ironic, Sakho looks a bit awkward but is effective,ml oven looks like an athlete and moves well, but is useless [emoji48]

Sakho is great n all...

but he would already be an automatic starter if he didn't pick up a knock every handful of games, that's the problem

Sakho is the only CB we have, who has the balls to bring the ball down and play it when he realized he is not under pressure. Skrtel and Lovren are rubbish at this, often heading the ball to nowhere when there are no opposing players near them. They earn millions a year, how hard is it to learn to bring the ball down and play it simple? Championship stuff.
