Thinks he owns the place

This is probably worthy of its own thread.
Roma and Leverkusen have had loan bids rejected. His agent is probably touting him around and sounding out interested clubs. He's obviously not happy about being a back up to Lovren and its the European Championships on home turf next summer. Some seem certain that he'll leave in this window.

What do we do? I'm against selling him as he could become a very good centre back for us. And we've tinkered a lot with the squad already this summer.
But at the same time he's only got 2 years left on his contract and probably wont sign a new one now.
Do we sell him for a decent fee now or let him go for peanuts next summer?

If it means we sign an Illaremendi or the like to fill the DM hole I'd just about do it.

Also depends on progress of Illori / Gomez for additional centre back cover (we have Toure too) I guess?

The whole Sakho / Lovren thing is very strange from the very beginning of spending 17M on Sakho to now.

I'd love to know what goes on at the club.

The team comes first and there is no way we can afford to sell him ..... regardless of the fact I think he's the best CB at the club. He won't be sold. Close the thread.

What happens if Lovren or Skrtel get an injury? I mean no sane person is going to suggest Kolo for a prolonged period, are they?

The idea that a club would have a first choice back 4 is obviously ludicrous.

Sakho will play loads of games, as and when he fits the bill.

I dont think thats true. Most clubs have a settled back four that plays if fit. The question is obviuousy fit.
You might see a few changes at full back, but having a settled partnership at CB is extremely important.

Dont want us to sell him, but my gut feeling says we'll do.

I said it in another thread, but if we sell him then I just don't know any more. I think he's the best CB we have (that's not saying much), so for him to be on the bench is one thing, but to sell him at a loss of ten million would be insane. He's a good player. I'd wager the other two make significantly more mistakes leading to goals or chances than Sakho does. But hey, they strut around the pitch swinging their arms like Beckham and spray Hollywood balls that nearly find their men so that's better...

I was kidding mate.

Not sure if he was a 'committee' signing, if he was, then Rodgers might be doing his thing with his own players/choices.
I can't see him going anywhere, we need him one way or another.
On another note, for the people saying to have him in the team over Lovren, I think Lovren has been pretty decent so far.

If somehow we could sell him and bring in a CB so we'd finally have one decent centre back in the squad I'm all for it.

Presumably his agent has been given the go-ahead to look for a new club? I'm hoping that we have a replacement lined up as Kolo Touré as back up doesn't sound prudent.

Especially as he looks more like a whole back four than a single centre-back at the moment.

If Sakho does go (and like many others I don't want to see that happen) I wonder if this means Illori's going to get his chance.

Joe Gomez is a centre back isn't he and Ilori. We still have Kolo and Can in case of emergencies.

Doesn't look like a lot of experience aside from Toure but we definitely have bodies to play the position.

Completely against selling a CB who looks a beast when playing for France. Given a solid run of games injury free and I really think he would become our dominate cb.
Has he put in a transfer request?

He's had that run of games before though...and he's never looked dominant.

Oh yeah that Ilori guy. Has he even played once pre season?

Ilori hasnt even played for the reserves

FFS do some research.

Ilori, 22, played the first half for Liverpool U21s in the mini-derby with Everton on Wednesday night, leaving as planned in the break with the Reds leading 3-1. It was Ilori's first game back after a successful summer at the European U21 Championship with Portugal where he was one of his nation's stand-out performers as they swept to the final before losing to Sweden on penalties.
