Sadio Mane

He's a decent prem league player who s ores goals. He wasn't my first choice wide forward I'd have signed, but I think our options have been narrowed. £30m is a lot, but the going rate these days. It won't matter much if we, and we will recoup it back by offloading benteke and balotelli. In fact we'll be in profit.

Southampton don't need the money because of the new TV deal so their players will be much more expensive. £30m isn't that much money for them. Then you will also have to think about that we are buying the player from an English club and that most probably means that we pay the transfer fee in pounds and the pound isn't worth as much now as a few days ago because of Brexit.

Southampton don't need the money therefore he will be expensive ?

Sure.

It makes sense. They don't need to sell is the point.

Yeah, but his fee has been touted in the press for weeks at £30m, Arn thinks it's because the of the Brexit, which is rubbish. And it doesn't make sense from our point of view, not for that fee.

I kind of covered that in the taking the risk side part of my post, Southampton take the risks that we aren't prepared too, or really need to as we can afford the "finished" article, as mentioned, our scouting is risk adverse, and that's because we're frankly loaded, it makes more sense for us to let someone else take the risk. As for Mane, if he joined us two years ago, he wouldn't be the player he is today as he wouldn't have got in the team ahead of Sterling, Coutinho, Firmino, etc, and that first team time is essential for a players development. The reason I think it's a nonsense argument is because people want us to sign these players for the first team, but they want us to sign them at a stage when they haven't fully shown they're that player, that approach would only work with the benefit of hindsight, or with luck because all the scouting in the world wouldn't have proved that Payet would have had the season he just did, and look at the average season Mahrez had the season before. Just imagine if two years ago (ignore who we actually signed) we signed Divock Origi as our main centre forward, as our marquee signing, there would have been riots on the forum!

quite correctly, because he's not very good.

I don't know if you can lump Payet in with Kante/Kane in this discussion.

Payet's been a known entity for years in world football.

So why is he playing for West Ham? Why have they doubled his salary to keep him? Why are Real and Chelsea and PSG interested in him now?

Is it because he has PROVED himself this year?

Look at the state if this

It's epic levels of mong

Why don't you go support a team that is filled with world class players?

Would make a change from you slating our players all the time, and stop quoting my posts...you're boring.

Do something meaningful with your life, go to work or something?

He's going to cost a lottttttt of money, BUT if he can replicate his good games for Southampton then it'll look a bargain. My problem isn't the money, it's that he's meant to be very inconsistent.

He really hasn't been. He hit a few radars due to his assist stats the season that WHU signed him - but to say he was a "known entity" is extreme. Yes - not as unknown as Kante, but still very very largely unknown when WHU signed him.

Wow. Your posts are genuinely rubbish. Really, really fucking useless.

Anyway, as far as Mane is concerned, he seems to be the type of signing everyone predicted Klopp would make.

It was always the case that he would make at least one "statement" signing of around £30m plus, and everyone also said he would want to add some genuine pace, goals and attacking threat in wide positions, so this makes total sense, as we were obviously and badly lacking that last season.

I would hope that this isn't the end of the big signings, though, especially if Benteke leaves. We've signed a keeper, so that's that sorted, but there's still LB, CB and DM to sort, and possibly another striker.

I wanted Xhaka or a player like him, and that should be our next target.

He's been getting French caps since 2010. I guess he's validated himself on a big stage now, but internationally he was always a player known to have this kind of potential. I don't think you can say the same about Kante or Kane.

I mean he was established for years as one of the better wingers in Ligue 1, and he's always had the talent to ratchet up the performance. I've literally known about him for a quarter of my life now.
