People on here bang on that 'posters have the right to criticise Benitez' (yeah thanks for giving us that right, that's awful good of you), yet when the criticism is dished out everyone jumps on the defensive and it's either deemed negative bollocks or written proof is demanded to prove, beyond all doubt, that any criticism is 100% fair AND accurate.
Meanwhile 90% of the forum praise his legendary status, exaggerate his success as a manager (no one is taking his successes away from him btw) to create a community that refuses (despite stating otherwise) to accept much of the flaws that are fucking obvious and had been obvious throughout his tenure.
Now as I've said, I'm not a Rafa 'hater', I don't dislike him and as a man I actually quite liked him and was massively grateful for all the good he did for the club - The European Cup, The FA Cup, finishing 2nd, the many good players he bought, but some of the rose tinted shit on here is just ridiculous, and further more, some of the cynicism and, in some cases, down right abuse thrown at those who've dared to question his reign (or even in Carra's case, state it was perhaps time for a change, despite also showing him the upmost respect) is just pathetic, blinkered hyperbole.
No doubt I'll receive a major backlash now from all the posters on here who shove cotton wool in their ears at the sound of constructive criticism or slight objectivity, but I don't see the point in playing out this ridiculous charade as a community of posters who seem intent on fighting Rafa's corner to the death, instead of looking at his reign from a balanced viewpoint.
Yeah he was a relative success in the league, a major player in European competition and he bought some great players, and some shit ones (both of which he holds responsibility for, rather than the ridiculous book-passing that goes on on here, to defend his every mistake).
Sort it out eh?
