I've tried to see benefits in the Ox but he's compete toilet. He had a very good game against Milan but he may as well have not been on the pitch since. Thiago was back to being shite again yesterday. I know Henderson was loved by a load of people in this thread last night but he was bang average too. If we'd played anyone half decent yesterday we could have been in trouble. The best players were TAA, Matip and Konate. They had to be because everyone else was was just titting about until we won. The side needs Fabinho, he's the glue, he probably makes thiago better by chilling him out, the exact opposite of having ox there.

My thoughts were..

Ox made a couple of good runs, no end product. One worldie pass to Salah, very little else.

Hendo had some exquisite passes, mixed in with more than a handful dogshite passes which were over or under hit, under no real pressure.

Thiago had his worst game for us, gave the ball away 3 times which could have led to goals. Twice on the same move which did lead to a goal.

But.. we won.

Yeah it felt like the players knew they just had to jog around for ninety minutes and they'd win. So they did and they did. Spose that's quite comforting really. They can definitely step it up if needed.

We dropped down to their level. We could’ve turned it up a few gears if needed.

I thought Thiago was gash against Villa with fabs and gash last night without. Mané is also in the same form he’s been all season without the goals which is a mad thing to say. Earlier this season his stunk the place out but somehow scored. Now the goals are missing.

Yeah I had the same thought about Mane.. was thinking we might not miss him at the AFCON. But he's occupying defenders so maybe we will.

First twenty minutes I was all like who is the big cunt sweeper playing just in front of their back four, cleaning everything up for them... And it was Joelinton. I know he gets a lot of flack for his effort up front but he doesn't half get stuck in at the back. This isn't me saying he's ace or anything, just an observation. It must be kinda weird being a striker who spends most of the time helping out your shitty defence.

First half we played well, went a goal down due to Thiago losing composure. Been said The Ox playing just off the front 3 pulls their defensive midfielders deeper giving them few options when the get possession. That fine but not much good if when he gets the ball his first touch lets him down.

We spluttered second half and a better team would've put us under pressure. Mane was the worst of the front 3 but the Boss pulled Mo. Maybe that's why TAA drifted as he mostly supports and interplays with Mo down the right.

No Mo and he tended to play inside and that's how he ended up in that Coutinho like position when he lashed in a rocket.

Yeah I noticed that myself. Thought he was great defensively for them.

Don't know if it has been mentioned in here but the constant harping on about the Newcastle lad was down with a head injury is crap. I've watched that replay so many times looking for it and just don't see where there was this clash of heads. His head glances the other newscastle defender's bicep. The clash with his own play throws him off balance and he goes down backwards with his elbows out to break his fall as you would if you were doing an overhead kick. May have Jarred his back and might have hid his head on the ground but his elbows and back took the impact. This is much the say as the de gea goal where the player stays down looking for play to stop so as to break up the attack. If he had been injured the way he acted holding his head he wouldnt have been grand 30 seconds later.

Oh and jenas and Cole on bt are two stupid cunts

Rafa apparently didn't want him at Newcastle but damned if he isn't tailor made for Rafa's style of play.

Pretty sure that being a stupid cunt is number one on any job search criteria for BT.

Owen, McMoneyman, Hoddle, Savage, Keown... If you added their combined IQs together you'd likely not get into double digits.

And during this month I suppose it's understandable. You can see Klopp trying hard to protect his players with reduced playing time.

Two went down holding their heads but one got up as soon as he saw he wasn't getting a free kick/getting the game stopped. That was before Jota scored. The other guy had no ill effects either and wasn't substituted so he was fine. If anything they are making it more dangerous for the times that people go down legitimately. It will create a little boy who cried head injury situation.

Mcmanaman is a truly terrible co-commentator.
I never really warmed to him as a player and his punditry has done nothing to improve matters.
He's just so basic and sounds as though he's winging it.

Ya that's my point though, there is no clash of heads and only one even barely hit off the other lad's upper bicep. If the media are going to continue the narrative of a head injury then at least show the contract. Bt went at pains length to show the contract for Trent's tackle which is subjective as to whether he got the man or ball first.

It's weird cos on BBC this morning (couldn't watch cos of location) they were showing a video clip saying he had an amazing game last night. I barely watched the game so I don't actually know

Spot on.

Yeah they were praising Ox in MOTD showing clips of him doing jack shit.
Our midfield was poor yesterday.
Just like Woland said, I think it's mainly because Fabs was missing.
Both Hendo and Thiago started the game thinking Fabs was on the pitch. Hendo was playing high up on the right wing like he usually does and Thiago was taking unnecessary chances like he was being protected. They got their shit together later in the game but we would have lost if it was a better side we were playing. Also Mike Dean kinda helped.

He does my head in, he answers "yeah" to whatever his co-commentator says before he is even halfway through the sentence.

If I was co-commentating with him I'd say:

Tom : "When you were at Liverpool you were the greatest ,,"
McMnmnmnmn ; "Yeah"
Tom : "... wanker of all those spice boys"

Hoddle is the conundrum on that list. Such a gifted and smart player and I thought he was one of the best English managers over the past 30 years.

But, smartness usually expresses itself in only certain applications and can be combined with dumbness in the same person. Maybe that is Hoddle?

LOL, Mike Dean blocked the keepers view. Wouldn't have had a chance anyway.

I've said since for a while now that, as much as we all love (and need) Virgil, Fabs is our most important player, and we always miss him when he's not there. He is who allows so many of our players to do what they do without fear of being caught out in doing so, and we're just not the same without him - We never are.

Losing him AND Virgil for the same match had me worried yesterday... First thing that went through my mind when I read the news was "Thank goodness it's only Newcastle". We were very lack-luster yesterday, seemingly not remembering that Fabs wasn't on the pitch for us, and thus getting caught out several times in a way that simply wouldn't happen had he been there. And Thiago seemed determined to play them in, every time he got the ball. A better team would certainly have takien point home with them last night.

Bottom line: Thank goodness it was only Newcastle.

But they'll be out for the spurs game

Spurs fans are nearly as weird as the paranoid City fan. Was looking in the Leicester match thread and they were called Leicester useless cunts for a few players getting covid and getting the game called off... Pot kettle black

Also for some weird one when some asked why Leicester fans don't like them dome twat said its because Leicester has a big Asian community and spurs are seen as the jew club... Never even dawned on him that people don't like them because they can be quite racist plus the fans have an over inflated sense That they good enough to be challenging despite the fact they never do. What is it? 2 league and fa cups wins in 40 years
Horrible club horrible part of London and absolute cunt fans

Ox wasn't amazing but he was alright. He is much improved (from his dog shit days of last season) so I am not sure why the continual hatred.

He dropped a first time ball to Salah which he should have scored.

Decent squad player for now. At least he's now available to play (and making an effort when he's played).
