Another scintillating first half. A dodgy 15 mins because we started strolling then steamrollered them again.

MotM
1. Mane (again) - that pass to Mo and that finish. However as I said vs City, he's been a revelation through the centre and he is so involved.
2. Thiago - midfield masterclass
3. Mo - an assist + two goals and still only 3rd said it all !

Also excellent : Welcome back Robbo ! Diaz, Fabinho
Very good : Trent, Ali, Keita, Jota.
Good : Matip, VvD, Hendo

Has to be Thiago for the MOTM. That was as good as a midfield performance I have seen at Anfield since I started following Liverpool. Maybe even better than Alonso against Norwich. But to be fair to Alonso, his performance was against better opposition.

Quite a few media outlets seem to have twisted Salahs interview where he said "They make our life easier...".

They are implying he said it about Utd, when to me he was referring to our defence and midfield making it easy for our strikers.

Full quote

“They make our life easier in the midfield and at the back,”

“They always try to give us the ball in a situation like one against one. So they make our life much easier."
Knew that was going to happen the moment I heard it (and Thiago said something too). Although obvious what they were trying to say the comments, by non-native English speakers, could be twisted by a perverted mind out to create mischief.

Well..... It's 4am. Im off to sleep now. Surely when I wake up it I believe it really happenedl 4-0! Boss.
You went to bed early ! It was 06.30 here before the adrenaline had dissipated enough to contemplate sleep. I almost woke the wife up to tell her ... but thought better of it, not wanting to risk a slap.

😀

Absolutely torn. Masterclass it was but Mane made one with a world-class pass and ditto his finish. It was his overall involvement that excited me though. We haven't seen this Mane for 1.5 seasons, though he was almost as good vs. City. His pressing, his defence - even back there as LB on one occasion, but more so the way he knitted the attack together. That was one of the best performances of an attack we are likely to see (and I include Diogo in that too).

I know Thiago also deserves the MotM. He's one of my very very favourite players - maybe even the best.

Interestingly the BBC called Thiago MotM but said Mane, Mo and Diaz were at the same level. Which basically tells anyone reading it how imperious we were. An absolute delight.

Ah.. the morning after the night before. Here are my full ratings...

Alisson 7.5 - a virtual passenger, a couple of nervy moments early on but an extra .5 for that turn on Bruno

Trent - 7.5 - interchanges with Henderson on the right exposes Utd time and time again

Matip - 7.5 - virtually nothing to do at the back.

Virgil - 7.5 - would have been 8 had it not been for a couple of brain farts at the start of the second half.

Robertson - 8 - a welcome return to form. Started the move for the third

Thiago - 10 - said it all last night, a masterclass (MoTM)

Fabinho - 8.5 - Always involved, broke up so much before it started.

Henderson - 6 - I actually thought most of our moves broke down because of him, seemed half a yard behind everyone else, a few sloppy passes. Could just be because how well his two teammates played which has clouded my judgement.

Salah - 9 - 2 goals and an assist.

Mane - 8.5 - Goal and a sublime assist. Seemed to be all over the pitch too when out of possession.

Diaz - 8.5 - see Mane.

Subs

Not fair to rate them, they were brought on when we were in cruise control.

This team never stops surprising me.I struggled to pick a poor performance last night— there must have been as Man U had that chance at 2-0 but bloody hell some of the football played by the reds was interstellar.

The Reds faced their biggest rivals and were hot favourites to beat them, on another huge occasion in the title race.
It was a flying start for the hosts, with Luis Diaz firing home an early opener, before Mohamed Salah finished off a magnificent move soon after.
Sadio Mane made it 3-0 midway through the second half after a slightly tense spell, and then Salah scored another, sealing a massive victory and sending Liverpool top of the league.
Here’s how supporters reacted to a fantastic win on Twitter and Facebook.

But, as has often been the case throughout his time on Merseyside, it appeared to come with a caveat as he was brought off with 10 minutes left to play.
The 30-year-old seemed to be clutching his hamstring before he was replaced by Naby Keita, though his exchange with Klopp on the touchline suggested it was at least only a precaution.
In fact, in his post-match press conference, Klopp explained that it transpired that Thiago had only ripped his shorts.
“I thought he had done something else,” he manager told reporters, echoing the sentiment among supporters after the game.
“He told me he was fine!”
