Pre Match Pre Match - Lille (CL) - Tues 20:00

Slot will go strong for the winning prise money 1.75m, my team would be:

Kelleher
Bradley
Endo
Quansah
Tsimikas
Morton
Jones
Elliott
Chiesa
Nunez
Danns.

FSG are our owners, you know what they are like when it comes to money. 😀
They're a contradiction.... How many players have walked for free? Trent, VVD and Salah at the start of the summer where worth at least £130m in total (atleast)... And the players said nothing was said to them until the window closed.

I don't mind playing a relatively strong team to ensure we win the match. But early subs if we're ahead and Jota to get 30 mins max from the subs bench.

This - “strongish” team, couple of changes, secure the win, get the subs on early.

Max points in the group stage for bragging rights - City’ll do it at done point and their fans will design posters around it.

There’s also a very slight possibility that losing to PSV in our last match plays a small part in City not making it through the CL group stage.

Salah has been shit the last two or three games. Maybe he is the one that needs resting.. ront three Chiesa Nunez and Diaz

I was bored, so it’s probably worth getting our heads round this new format and why “every game counts” and not in a financial way.

We already know that finishing top 8 means you avoid a 2-legged play off, but also, finishing top 6 means we can’t play another top 6 team until the Semi Finals and the team that finishes 2nd until the final.

It’s hard to predict exactly who’ll finish in the top 6, but there’s a fairly good chance that we won’t face the likes of Barca, Arsenal, Bayer Munich, Inter until the Semi Finals at least.

Lot can happen in the last few games because the teams are tightly packed.

The key league positions to look out for are 15,16, 17 & 18 - because we’ll play one of those teams in the Round of 16 if we finish 1st or 2nd (doesn’t matter where).

Either 15th or 16th place will play either 17th or 18th (15th can’t play 16th), with the 2nd play off being made up from the other 2 teams. The winner of both these playoffs who’ll either play the 1st or 2nd place team.

I think there’s a good chance that Real Madrid or City finish in those spots, so there’s a chance we might meet one of them - just depends on results.

So you could see a playoff of Real Vs City with the winner playing Barca on one side with us playing the winner of the likes of Benfica or Monaco.

Again, as long as we finish 1st or 2nd the next position to look at are 7,8,9,10, 23 or 24 - because we’ll play one of those teams in the QF, should we get there. I think we’re looking at potent Brest/Lille, Atletico Madrid, Villa or one of the Italian Teams (Juventus, Atalanta or AC Milan) in a QF.

Hard to predict even with 2 games to go, we’ll get a better feel for it after this round, but there are some fascinating fixtures remaining.

Bayern & Dortmund should pick up 6 points and break into the top 6. Real have 2 easy ties and should get to 15 points, which might be enough to get them higher than 15 and seeded for the playoff - If City win their 2 games (and that’s by no means certain because PSG will need a win to have a good chance of progressing), so City will likely be unseeded in the playoffs- don’t see them cracking top 16 with 14 points, although it very much depends on other results.

Celtic should secure a playoff spot if the beat Young Boys, who are currently the worst team in the comp.

They don't pick the team and Slot doesn't seem like a manager that will bow down to owners.

From Slot's teams to date there is no way he's going as weak as your team. Even though I agree with your choice.

I made a thread on this here : https://www.sixcrazyminutes.com/threads/cl-table-and-final-16.209033/

Try out the Results simulator on the UEFA site : https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/simulator/
I've got PSG finishing 20th, Celtic 18th (they'll lose at Villa) and City 17th (assuming PSG & City draw with each other and both win their other game). City could be a Last 16 opponent for us or Barca.

I was bored enough to put it all in a spreadsheet myself and try work it out - will check and see what I came up with.

Madrid play against Brest and RB Salzburg, add 6 points to their total.

Man C have a tricky away game against PSG who desperately need 3 points.

So I think Madrid will make to the top half. City won't.

Yep - City finishing 16th or 17th, but only if they win their 2 games.

PSG might sneak through in 23rd spot with 10 points on goal difference over Stuttgart and Brugge - if they beat Stuttgart in their final game.

I have Real Madrid in 15th behind Atalanta & Juve on goal difference, but that could change given their remaining games.

Arsenal probably finish 3rd with Dortmund or Bayern 4th depending on goal difference.

So, in my prediction we play either Real or City in the R16 and likely Leverkusen or Inter in the QF.

As I said though, hard to really predict as there’s about 12 teams likely to end up on 11-16 points and they’ll be in the mix for who we could play.

I feel like Real v City play off round is also on the cards - particularly if City don’t beat PSG.

We could face Feyenoord in R16 or Celtic.

Using the UEFA simulator I had City finishing 17th with a draw at PSG and winning their last game. Ditto PSG in 20th (draw and winning their last).

Also Barca, Arsenal & Inter all on 19 pts with Bayern and Milan on 18 and with Leverkusen and Villa on 17. A shock result somewhere could mean any of those dropping out of the Top 8.

17 teams (from 3rd downwards) covered by 3 points !

I'm also worried that Slot doesn't seem able to rest or drop certain players. If Grav starts tomorrow Slot is fucking mental

Lille are unbeaten in their last 21 games having beaten both Madrid sides and earned respectable draws against Juve and Marseille (twice). These are clearly no mugs. Might not score a great deal but defensively very sound.

I see an uninspiring 1-0 win, 2-0 at most.

Hmmm. Real or City. Feyenoord or Celtic. Good lord those are different sets of problems to consider.

Jota is not in team training. Might be some individual training, but realistically he's probably will be on tbe bench, if at all.

I am fine with this if it means he is being prepared to return for Ipswich. The guy is getting less reliable each season.

Jota out for weeks again? I mean, cmon. We need to move on from him. It's ridiculous now.

At this point, I'm wondering whether he's really injured or if he just wants to stay at home and play FIFA.
