Yup, frustrating at times but his work rate, willingness to keep trying, along with his speed and the danger he poses means he’s incredibly important to how we play, and how we played today.
Saying he’s the most replaceable of the three as a criticism is harsh. Very harsh. In fact who could we replace him with that would putperform him in both attack and defence?
I already have.
His tracking back was great. That's about it. We should have been 4 up by half time if he wasn't wasteful with *easy* chances. Second half his passing was erratic as fuck.
This isn't me saying he's generally shite btw. He was shit tonight however.

He wasn't amazing today, but still a very useful performance. I think one of the reasons our front 3 works so well is the blend of their personalities and skill-sets. Bobby provides the creativity, and Mane is a constant danger, which allows the "silent killer" Salah to do his job. Mane might not be most clinical, but he is impossible to ignore, which allows Salah space to pick up the pieces.
I think you are doing him a massive injustice.
All his stats are up on last season and the mere fact he's there occupies defenders and offers space to Firmino and Salah and Ox running from CM.
I love him.

I tell you what, if Klopp wins the Champions League with Lovren in defence, it's fucking up there with Rafa winning it with Traore.
Overly harsh as Lovren can have brilliant games, just not frequently enough.
He was superb home and away against City.
Troare is nowhere near his level.
He made the first chance with his touch and pace, the second was behind him.
After that he always looked to lay it off and still got into position to score the important 3rd that started the 2nd half rampage.
Not his best night but I can't fault his application of his decision making, just a little bit of execution.
It's the pressure that gets to Lovren. He's a good player in a lot of matches, but then he'll play in an important match (or against his old team Southampton) and he'll capitulate.
Troare had a more unpredictable pattern of fucking up.

Roma took confidence from their 4-1 loss at the Nou Camp, not least because they were incredibly unlucky to lose by that margin. It was a 2-1 sort of game. They went into the 2nd leg with real confidence knowing that they weren't that far away from Messi FC.
Today, whilst they scored 2 at the end, I am not sure how much confidence they can take from losing a game 5-2 that they should have lost by 7 or 8.

Games that end that way the goals we dropped always feel more inportant at the time than when the dust has settled. Like most people I was disappointed when the final whistle went given the lead we had built. Then the camera cut to Dzeko and he had his head in his hands looking like he knew they had blown their chance at a CL final.
I fancy us to get at least 2 goals away from home, we have a massive 38 goals from 9 games this season, and I dont see them getting 5. If we cant progress from this position then we dont deserve to be there.
