LOL What!! You think Gomez is going to make the difference..?? LOL
How many times have you said to other when they question something to do with the team something like " Do you think that you know better than Klopp" And here you are persuming to know better than him ....
You are right. My head is exploding... With laughter.
Defenders will always make mistaker, Goal keepers too. What hurts is when they make those mistakes on a regular basis...We are not doing that.
We can collectively take our foot off the gas, and have done that in some games that have cost us.
You know what, Fuck It. Lets say that you are right, It does not mean that I am wrong. We as a team may need to sought out the defence problems and the attacking ones too
Do I think Joe Gomez is the answer - No - but Klopp’s the one who rates him (when he’s fit) - remember that next time you try to get all holier than thou about “thinking you know better than Klopp”.
The point, however, being - if you look at the 2nd goal - Matip jumping in and missing that tackle is probably error number 3 of 5 that led to that goal. Gomez “might” not have jumped in because he has the pace to track the run, whereas Matip doesn’t,
In any case - none of the forwards are to blame for any of the goals conceded - so no... your are absolutely, utterly and completely off the mark to “wang on” about the “forwards not running at defenders enough” or whatever nonsense was floating around your head.
Seriously - we’re averaging roughly over 3 goals a game - we’ve scored in every game - only Chelsea kept us to down to 1 goal.
That’s great.
We shouldn’t need to score 4 goals to win every match - we used to be able to grind out results without conceding.
Now, it doesn’t matter who you play in defence - if you play a high line, with your full backs high up the pitch and a midfield that, on a bad day, is as protective as a chocolate fire guard - then you’ve got a problem.
Do I blame Klopp - not really, it’s how he plays, but we’ve changed our tactics a little this season - it looks like Klopp’s strategy to counteract opposition low block is to push the right sided midfielder (Harvey at first and more often Henderson of late) into a wider attacking role supporting and overlapping Salah regularly, while Trent is coming more infield.
That helps Salah - because he doesn’t have to provide the width and can get into the centre to put the ball in the back of the net with extreme frequency.
The same isn’t happening on the left - Robbo is hugging the touchline more, but the left midfield position has chopped and changed almost every game, with Kieta, Ox, Jones, Milner & Thiago all playing there.
So there’s a balance thing on the right - which is being exploited because Fabinho is not only covering in front of the CB but in behind Trent and Henderson at times too.
The right side is also where Matip drives forward.
I think that’s we’re our problems exist, mainly.
I’ll add that the press isn’t quite as good without Bobby upfront, nor is Jotta ax good as Bobby (when Bobby’s playing well) at holding the ball and creating opportunities for others with his neat touches.
Jotta, is much better at finding space and scoring though.
So let me summarise - opposition teams are exploiting our weaknesses to great effect and we have too many people out of form just enough to cost us points - the question is whether we tweak things, tighten things up, grind out a few results and play our way back in to form.
Or we could dream of playing Man Utd every week.
