Allison messed up 2 corners?
Why did he have no protection?
Midfield was leaky?
Hammers muscular - we're not..
TAA exposed time and again?

Or just one of those days?

Always going to be a difficult game, they're at home and they're in form.

Fair play to them.

Only plus side I can think of is come May and they finish 1-3 points over Utd (Which I think is very possible)

Awful game. Didnt deserve anything. Klopp has some work to do during the break.
Lets hope we dont get any injuries during the international games.

We go again.

We've been leaking cheap goals all season. It was bound to catch up to us eventually. We've won 2 of the last 6 in the league conceding 10 goals in the process, this result was not a surprise at all.

West Ham are a strong physical side, particularly on set pieces, we weren't prepared for that at all.

Everyone was shite. Our inactivity in the transfer market is going to cost us again.

I don't think it's just our inactivity/lack of depth. I mean, we can argue that Origi came off the bench and scored. The problem today wasn't depth, the team we had out is more or less our best team, give or take the lack of Firmino and the inclusion of Ox. That team beats most teams.

The problem is a bit more complex. I don't think the defense is as good as it was:

  • Trent, for the millionth time, still isn't a very good defender. World class player, mediocre defender - this hasn't improved one bit
  • VVD is either slowly getting back to where he was, or we might have to contemplate the idea that he might not get back to quite that level
  • Matip isn't getting younger, he's a great defender, but we look very flat at the minute between him and VVD when anything comes down the middle, neither are that quick on the turn, VVD isn't slow at all, but he's a big lad and at the minute they are both getting sucked into situations and when that happens high up the pitch we get caught.
  • Robbo has been below par for a while. Defensively he's still pretty sound, but there's an edge that's missing and his delivery is now hit and miss.
  • The midfield lacks a clear defined "best" combination. Without Gini it's a bit cumbersome and similarly to the defense, it's very flat. Ox is past his best and probably has little future here, but at least he gives us someone who carries the ball. Without Keita or Elliott we're sorely lacking someone who puts the opposition on the back foot, from the centre of the pitch. Thiago is great on his day, but a bit worryingly lax at times and it can be costly. Henderson played it safe way too many times today, and Fabs broke up the play well, but is as flat footed as Matip and VVD can be, so this in turn troubles us with quick simple passes in behind.
I don't know what the answer is, because our set up is crucial to how we play. We dropped off 10 yards last season to cover for the loss of VVD and it showed, now he has come back and we're trying to revert and he doesn't quite have that sharpness or zip that saw him play high up the pitch so effortlessly. So Trent still plays high and gets caught, and the centre back pairing lack the ability to cover. Ideally one should be mopping up for the other, which is why Gomez's pace was always such a good asset. The problem we have now is deciding between two players who read the game exceptionally well but will get caught out occasionally, and players like Konate and Gomez who have that extra mobility but lack the coolness and awareness.

The team once again came up against a side who exposed our vulnerabilities and made us look weak and unbalanced. We've largely been excellent this season but not without the feeling that we could concede in pretty much every game (including United). This is where we often look to Klopp to offer a plan B and it doesn't seem to happen. Maybe we just have to accept that some teams will give us a game and have the beating of us, every now and then. But on the back of last week's capitulation, it's a worry that teams are finding weaknesses in us again and others will be watching and will follow suit when playing us.

There's definitely a case for the Greek getting a run and I'd also be inclined to give Origi or Minamino more game time.

Hendo (or Elliott before him) spends as much time in support of Mo as they do covering TAA. With TAA also making more runs into the centre, it leaves our right flank really exposed.

All this means we're scoring for fun but giving away too many cheap goals. The balance isn't right at the mo.

I think this is one of a few decisions that defined the game.
How can the FA, when we rightly protest, explain how
a) This wasn't a foul
b) THis wasn't a yellow
c) This wasn't a red

Pawson was terrible today - and should be demoted for a few weeks.

That challenge isn't dissimilar to Pickford's on VVD. It's just luck that Hendo wasn't seriously injured

Origi took his goal very well. Great first touch and finish. It would be good to give him more game time.

Get trent back to being a full back, please Klopp.
Sign a new top midfielder you cheap cunts.
Thiago, has been injured yes, but losing patience.
Ox. what's the point, really?

How come we have some of the best crossers in the world and never score from a set piece? meanwhile our defence shits its pants every time somebody aimlessly lumps the ball towards our box. I don't get it, it's not like we are a team of midgets either.

You are going to face corners and free kicks in every match at every level, and yet we seem totally unprepared to deal with them defensively, and gain no advantage offensively from the 6-10 set piece opportunities we get every week. Are we just not doing enough work on the training ground?

I must be in the minority who thought it wasnt a red. His foot went up from the ball. There wasn't a lot of contact from the studs. It was the back leg which got him.

I think I'm with you. I'm still not sure, and I think it's my Liverpool hat on that has me conflicted. It was similar to Holgate's red today, but I'm not sure he makes contact. The stills make it look worse, obviously. Had he made more contact with the raised foot, then yeah, definitely a red. At the minute, I'm unsure. The fact a foul wasn't given, though, is a fucking joke.

That should have had a man sent off. West Ham got away with one there.

Beyond that there's no complaints. They were stronger, smarter, made fewer errors and deserved the three points.

I agree with a lot of this excpet your point about It not being about dept.

Yes Origi came on a scored, But he does that with the rarity of TAA scoring from free kicks. He has been putting himself about more, and today even ran at and took on a defender. But he still offers so little these days.

Minamino. He is just lost out there. Not on the same wave length as the rest of the team so is in effective

The Ox would struggle to get in the starting XI of Norwich or Newcastle

They all should be offered to Newcastle

Why are we discussing the attacking side of things when scoring goals isn't the issue at the minute? The issue is we're conceding for fun. Scoring 2s and 3s and still not winning games is of far greater concern.

West Ham was the more organised gritty and overall better team yesterday. Deal with it and move on. YNWA

Really...We are struggling for to do both. How many chance did we make today, and how many against Brighton. And the chances we make we are not puting them away. Keep streesing that we have the AFCON coming up. No Salah,No Mane No Keita. So yes the striker are a concern.

Maybe againt West Ham Konate would have been a better option with dealing with Antonio

Really...We are struggling for to do both.

Seriously... we’re the leagues top scorers - and by a not insignificant amount given the number of games - 4.

We’ve conceded more that City & Chelsea combined.

Scoring is not the problem.

Against West Ham - Goal 1 is absolutely down to Alison - even with the WH player putting a bit of pressure on him - that was an almighty flap - I think he couldn’t make his mind up whether to catch it or punch it and ended up doing neither.

Goal 2 - shocking ball to Mane who was surrounded, the breakaway is usually were Fabs gets his standard yellow bringing the player down and sniffing out the danger - 3 of them round him and none get him, Matip dives in and misses his tackle... and Trent is too far up field to get back in time to get a tackle on

Goal 3 - what the fuck is Trent doing - Zouma gets a free run - no one tracking or covering the space - shit defending.

That’s the problem - we can’t be needing to score 3 and 4 goals a game - there’s 3 preventable goals - we were all over the place at corners - that’s the problem.

Goal no 3 Allison was so focused on Antonio he completely lost his head, it was a poor day at the office for him but I ant criticism he has been excellent this season and every keeper has one of those days.

Midfield is another matter entirely because it's having one of those days pretty much every weekend now.
