I can't be the only bugger on here who'll be watching the play off finals this weekend can I?
I love the play offs because not only is there so much at stake for each club involved but each player individually has a lot riding on it. The average wage in the 4th tier is about £50,000 per YEAR and these players can almost double their wages by getting promoted.
This weekend the Champions league final rates 4th in my list of priorities after Derby v QPR, Leyton Orient v Rotherham and Burton v Fleetwood.
The Derby v QPR one is fascinating as McLaren left QPR (where he was assistant manager) to take over at Derby during the season so knows QPR inside out...........despite this i think QPR will prevail simply because Charlie Austin is so bloody awesome.
I said that Burnley wouldn't miss Charlie Austin when he left for £5m because Danny Ings was waiting in the wings but if they could have held onto him; Austin & Ings were made for each other. Rumour has it Burnley want to sign Austin back if QPR don't get promoted.
QPR were top of the table when Austin picked up an injury, they slid down the table in his absence and there's no coincidence that they have come back into form since Austin has been back fit.
I'll wager that our supposed target Will Hughes will once again be left out of Derby's starting line-up (hardly a ringing endorsement). Derby's midfield is very good but in theory QPR have the most talented midfielder on show in Ravel Morrison.
Derby obviously have a good chance but I think if QPR play Austin and Zamora up front they'll have too much for Derby's usually tight defence.
The Orient v Rotherham game could go either way but Rotherham are the better team and should prevail. If Burton start with Kee and McGurk up front then I reckon they'll beat Fleetwood.
