Palace Post Match thread

We had some of those mad games in previous seasons, but in those days we dropped points whereas today we didn't.

I also think you have to give Palace some credit for pressing us so hard in the second half. I was grateful that they spent most of the first half time-wasting and kicking the ball away. Zaha is a hell of a player and it was a bit cruel of Klopp to put Milner against him.

Just one of those days, all good teams have a off day. We fucking won though, I the past we would have lost. I'll say it against these scored three at city and won. We beat the fuckers.

I wish people would stop say things that imply Milner had a very bad game coz I don't think he did - his performance against Zaha does not take into account some of the great runs and tackles he made- plus the goal-bound assist. Zaha causes problems for every defender - Milner is not the first, and the 2nd yellow could have been avoided by Henderson not making such a shit pass (and yes Hendo did have a good game overall).

Milner had a rough day against Zaha today but I don't think he was helped by his team-mates. The forwards aren't going to track back as much as needed so the midfielders needed to give him more cover.

We weren't helped by Matip at times either... he was caught out on numerous occasions by trying to dive in around the half way line and left in no mans land as a result. You just can't gamble like that against teams like Palace.

Matip has to do those runs which I love him doing - I don't think he was at fault for any of the goals conceded. If he does not do those runs into Central midfield we would be still passing it around the back. What I do agree is that - don't make those runs if we are not under pressure to make them, like when we are 2-1 up.

I'm not talking about bringing the ball out....

my bad, I guess you mean trying to take on opposition players around the half-way line ?

There were a number of occasions where Palace were breaking with the ball and Matip dove in around the halfway point to try win the ball back, failed and as a consequence was taken out of the game.

That's because he's "hella slow, innit"... and he wouldn't be able to keep up with their fast break, so he's trying to be smart but intercepting early.

JoeGo in the same situation (at Selhurst Park) puts on the turbo boosters and gets back. Trent is no slouch on that side either. Today we played possibly the 3rd most dangerous counter attacking team in the league (after the 2 Manchester clubs; a team with pace across their front 3) with a very, very slow right side defence.

In short, we really got away with one today.

MOTD - no way !!! - Robertson for the build up to the fourth goal - he keeps the ball in with his hand !!! - never saw that at all !!! LOL - fuck you Roy
Yeah I was wondering what the Palace players were on about

I welcome the fact that the knives are out for us on MOTD - it's because we are authentic contenders for the Premier League.

They loved us when they thought we weren't going to win it.

Naby was being deployed like a left winger too often, but i guess we don’t yet trust him to own a CM slot.

Yeah I didnt like seeing him out there. Robertson was making runs inside of Keita while Firmino dropped deep into midfield. Felt like it negated the best aspects of all three.

I had no idea he did that - I just hope the FA don't feel they have to punish us in other matches unfairly because they missed that deliberate handball.

I would hate to be any player that has to face those three players - but I do get your point. However, there is nothing stopping Keita drifting into centre of midfield from time to time. You can see him on TV calling out for the ball, but as others have pointed out he is just a little timid for my liking, the comparisons with OX are not right - Ox scored his first goal for us against West Ham in November last season, you could see his potential by then and then after Coutinho was sold he really did announce himself. I think this guy is overwhelmed, and like so many of you have said in the match thread - he just is not and probably will never get the space to do his trickery like he could in the other league. I think he could be Klopp's first expensive purchase failure.

Yeah it was a bit strange TBH because everyone on the planet knew he'd get raped by Zaha's speed. Matip & Hendo (who had a good game that aside) didn't exactly help him out either, considering how high up the pitch Millie was playing most of the game.

Rou Hodgson's post-match comments. How this short-sleeved dweeb ever acquired the image of a cultured intellectual is one of life's mysteries. It's as if Dreamy is his scriptwriter.

"To find yourself 2-1 down to a 45-metre shot which is deflected and then a deflected shot in the penalty area, that can count to being a little bit unfortunate, but for the players to come back to 2-2 after that and do as well as they were doing is very commendable in my view.

I think they deserve a lot of credit for it. The third goal of course was one where the cruelty of football shows itself and it's absolute most wicked because a goalkeeper comes back after not having played for a year and a bit, a club servant - there aren't many better club servants like Julian Speroni at any football club in the world - for him to make that type of mistake which of course was really unfortunate and put Liverpool undeservedly back in the lead, we have to consider ourselves hard done by in that respect.

But still at 3-2 the boys kept going, were asking questions, creating chances.

We go 4-2 down which would have been an even more cruel blow because the players who were closest to the action - and they don't lie about these things - assure me it was a clear handball which unfortunately no one saw.

But strangely enough we came back even then and scored a third one and kept the margin of defeat to one goal which it might well have been had they not scored the fourth goal, so it might have been - had that goal been chalked off for handball - there's no guarantee that we would have scored the third goal.

So it might have been a one goal margin".

There was also a hand ball in their box which could have given us a pen

Dreamy or Hodge?

Lol.. Christ, reading that back is painful, it's a paradox that the idiot made one of the flattest, dreariest, inspiration-void Liverpool sides EVER, yet he goes to The Etihad and Anfield and scores 6 sodding goals. This the man who labelled a 2-0 defeat against Everton a good performance. Here's some nostalgia for you folks:

The second half was as good as I have seen a Liverpool team under my management play, that is for sure,” he said. “I think it was a very good second-half performance. Therefore I find it hard to accept there was no confidence in the team. We were camped out in their half of the field, camped out in their final third.

“We are not trying to disguise this is a predicament, or whatever word you care to use. For any team to take six points from eight games at the start of the season is a predicament, maybe you argue being Liverpool the predicament is even greater. We do not in any way try to deny that.

“But while the result was quite clearly very, very bad for us, I am refusing to accept it was a bad team performance. I thought the shape of our team was good, I thought the quality of our passing was good. We did not score goals and Everton did, but I refuse to sit here and accept we were in any way outplayed or in any way inferior.”

He's like an early iteration of some sort of cyborg that they haven't ironed all the kinks out of yet.

That transcript from yesterday was practically incomprehensible. Fucking idiot.
