Superb yesterday, and his comments about Luis being the best to never win an award if he doesn't get one this season are also a well-timed 'up yours' to the media and the game in general.
Easy to forget how close he was to having to pack it in when he had that horrible groin injury/infection and how long he was out for.
Make the most of him while we still can boys and girls!

Impressive that he has played every minute in the league so far, and that after the fears about him having to pack it in.
Guess his comments about never being so fit were true although he needed some games to get back to his best.

Love our captain!

He's always been a great captain off the field, but he's improved quite a bit as captain ON the field this season.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Spions comment in the match thread about him putting it about bit during the game was good to hear. He looked as aggressive and committed as ever. Long may it continue.

I know one thing - The day he retires I'm going to sob like a baby....

That's cos I'm gonna smack you about like a bitch that day.

I thought it took him till early December this season to come good, but since then he has been excellent most of the time and superb on occasion. As already said, he seems to have discovered an extra level to his leadership (lines of communication with Rodgers?) as captain this year too, which is always welcome.

Another year or two of this Gerrard and I'd be more than happy.

You're talking about paddling asses and I'm the fruit? Ass paddler.
I'll be waiting big boy.

Steven Gerrard epitomes everything that's right about football and he's the perfect role model for anyone. He's the most talented British footballer of this generation, he's a role model on the pitch and off the pitch. This season has just been the icing on the cake for me, he's always been extremely talented and been able to inspire the team from any situation, but this year he's almost grown into a father for the team, he's matured so much since that injury and he's come back even stronger. I can see him working his way up to Rodgers assistant in years to come.

He was brilliant yesterday and the main reason we didn't see Bale score.

It showed just how good a runner he still is, against the pace of Bale, probably the quickest in the league, at 32 years old, Bale still only just managed to break free off him on his surging runs.

Gerrard played it smart running at angles. I thought we were fucked when Bale skinned him and Carra.
