Has anyone actually watched him play?? Just spent 7 odd mins going through the obligatory youtube vid below, and there's some serious swag on offer. The A-B-C ya later move on 2:48 had me purring like a cat. Mmmm.

We've got a future balla on our hands here.

Agree. I don't see the problem with this signing. Its not like signing this lad is the reason we are struggling to find a top striker. I wouldn't mind if we did this more often - Chelsea has an entire starting XI on loan and even though I never want to be like those chavs, I feel like this is a great move. I mean he started over Lukakku in the WC for chrissakes!

Signing the lad and loaning him straight back is probably the only way to have done the deal plus the lad needs game time to develop. This was smart business. He'll want to prove himself at Lille and will return to Liverpool a better player. Everyone wins.

I dont know if its been mentioned but lille in champs league too, soo good opportunity to watch the kid.

They're not officially in it yet as they finished 3rd and have to play the qualifiers. Maybe Lille will draw Arsenal, and Origi scores in both legs to knock the Gooners out.
Don't forget he can potentially play against us. He better be missing all his shots.

Our pair of CBs cost £38m pounds.
If Origi can score against them it shows that he's the shit and our scouts are amazing.

(or that we are shit at buying CBs...)

He can't play against us since we own him and he's only on loan to Lille, can he ? Or did UEFA nail that one down with Courtois last season ?

Yeah, he can play for Lille against us if they qualify (they're in Pot Four, we're in Pot Three) and the draw puts us in the same group. UEFA doesn't have the rule forbidding the player from playing against his parent club. I think in the Courtois - Chelsea case, UEFA actually told Chelsea to do one when it was suggested that Chelsea wanted Atletico to pay for the use of Courtois in the games between the two clubs.

Origi stunned by Liverpool interest
ESPN staff
August 5, 2014

Liverpool new boy Divock Origi has admitted he was stunned to discover the club had been tracking his progress for several years.

Origi played and scored at the World Cup for Belgium and completed a £10 million move to Anfield last month before Liverpool immediately loaned him back to Lille.

However, he had no idea that Liverpool had been monitoring him before he announced himself on the world stage in Brazil.

"Liverpool followed me for a long time," Origi said in an interview with L'Equipe. "When I arrived in the offices there, they showed me cassettes of me in the Under-15s. Everyone knew me. I couldn't believe it.

"When I arrived, I was impressed. Steven Gerrard told me it was a shame that I wouldn't be there straight away as everyone was waiting impatiently for me. That means something. I also saw Sturridge, who was very nice."

Brendan Rodgers also has high expectations. "He wants me to become one of the best in the world," Origi added of his new manager.

Origi, 19, only made his Ligue 1 debut in February 2013 but his breathtaking rise has not diminished his awareness that he remains a rough diamond in need of polishing.

"Last year, I scored on my Ligue 1 debut before dropping out of the team a little later," Origi, who has made just 12 starts in 40 French top-flight appearances, added.

"That pushed me to work harder. I want to play a run of games, establish myself in the team, improve, discover European competition."

My mate is a Lille supporter. I asked him about Origi and he said he could be good, but he's nowhere near ready yet. Nothing we didn't know already, but thought I'd share.

....Meanwhile, the Reds's summer signing Divock Origi has revealed Liverpool were monitoring him for long before agreeing terms with the Belgium international. The striker was signed from Lille and will return to his former club on a season-long loan. "He [Rodgers] wants me to become one of the best in the world," Origi told L'Equipe. "Liverpool followed me for a long time. When I arrived in the offices there, they showed me cassettes of me in the U15s. Everyone knew me. I couldn't believe it."

Impressive stuff.

Did you just bump this thread to point out a player played football.
Nothing happened?
Fuck sake Rico.

Origi looked pretty mobile in today game, had a good header saved by the GK. He had good touches and tried to get involved in the play, but I guess Lille are so fucking defensive in their approach. They had 21 Clean sheets in the last season. I must say, Lille were shit, playing their RB as a winger ahead and three completely defensive minded MF...just wank game.

[article]Lille earned its first win of the season in the French league on Friday after beating newly-promoted Caen 1-0 courtesy of a controversial penalty.
Divock Origi converted the spot kick in the 69th minute after the referee saw a foul from Caen fullback Dennis Appiah on the Lille striker. Appiah was also red-carded although TV replays showed he made a clean tackle.

''It's a harsh result for Caen,'' Lille captain Rio Mavuba told BeIn Sport television. ''We're struggling to create space and be accurate in the final ball.''

Lille finished third last season but could only manage a goalless draw with promoted Metz in its opening game last weekend.

Caen played its home game at Le Mans because its Michel d'Ornano stadium will host the world equestrian games from Aug. 24 to Sept. 7.

Caen was the more threatening side, with winger Lenny Nangis firing wide in the 27th and substitute Fode Koita heading over the bar in the 56th.

Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and Mavuba preserved the victory in the closing minutes. Enyeama parried a long-range strike from Caen winger Florian Raspentino and Mavuba cleared off the line following a header from Koita.

Caen lost striker Mathieu Duhamel and defender Emmanuel Imorou to injuries. Imorou pulled his left hamstring in the 31st while Duhamel, the top scorer in the second division last season, sprained his right ankle in the 47th.[/article]

I'm gonna ask this, because I'm 99% certain that no one, anywhere has ever asked this whenever his name has been mentioned....

Can we recall him from the loan if we don't buy a striker? The loan that Lille insisted on as a condition when selling him to us?
