Well according to Hodgson he hasnt even seen him play, and he doesnt sign players until hes seen them play.

To be fair - the reason the French squad is so bad is due to the poor attitude most of the players have- Domech is also one shite manager. I think there are very few countries in the world that could have a B team that could challenge..

i think Spain could - Argentina could possibly even have a C team.. Brazil and italy of course..

the other would easily be France - They have some terrific players that missed out on the world cup. Perhaps another approach taken by Domench and those chosing the squad could have had them in the Semi's at least.

I don't think I've ever heard of this guy let alone seen him play, but I wouldn't hold any kind of international record against him. When you've got guys like Benzema (he's still got quality despite a bad time at Madrid) and Nasri not making the squad whilst that fucking donkey Gignac gets game after game, you have to just forget about the national team.

Or he could be worse than Gignac? I agree with your point about Domenech, though.

But the international aspect, the fact nobody has heard of him, his average record in a mediocre league, and the little he has accomplished at 23 doesn't inspire me with confidence. Add to that the fact that we have plucked him from under the noses of West bloody Ham doesn't suggest that we're after a top quality player here, and not one worth spending £15 million of our limited budget on.

Pacy and technically gifted. Too lightweight for the premiership I think.
I thought he would go back to Lyon who were ready to offer 10M Euros.
£12M is very expensive IMO.
Having said that, with Torres they could make a good partnership.

The squad for the quals in the Europa league must be confirmed before July 23. That leaves us with 6 days of getting in a player or two for that squad.

Riera linked with Olympiakos
Liverpool winger's future at Anfield uncertain

Olympiakos have demonstrated an interest in Liverpool winger Albert Riera, skysports.com understands.

The Spaniard's future at Anfield is uncertain after falling out with former boss Rafa Benitez.

Riera has since been linked with a switch to Spartak Moscow, but a deal failed to come to fruition.

However, Olympiakos have emerged as potential new suitors with reports claiming vice-president Sokrates Kominakis is in England for talks.

It is suggested Olympiakos are to offer €4million (£3.4m) but Liverpool are seeking nearer €5million (£4.2m).

The French squad isn't that bad. The clown acting as a manager is a huge hindrence to them. They have some very good players in their squad. Hell, Domenech left Benzema, Nasri and Ben Arfa at home for last world cup squad. I wouldn't read too much into his lack of international caps.

EDIT: Just noticed others have said similar above.
 
What other winger could we get for even the slightly higher figure of £4.2m ? Even a tea-lady costs £5m upwards nowadays.

Agreed. How is Albert Riera worth around the same as Insua?

The only reason to sell him for that is if he is really is poisoness to the team.
 
The Remy reports, combined with that Hodgson interview, are a bit worrying. Sounds like the club is signing players over the manager's head.
 
This loic guy is way over priced. If it is true I hope it falls through. I seem as another El hadj diouf type of mistake. Cisse at least had some modicam of success.

Didn't Juve offer us 5 million for Riera and we turned them dow it would make no sense to flog him for less. I would rather keep him!
