New striker

You're right, although Klopp's unwillingness to use Chamberlain/Shaqiri/Origi/Minamino is a factor here. They haven't really been given many opportunities and Klopp seems to persist with Mane and Firmino out of habit at this point.

It could be because they're shite, but I do think some of them would have surpassed some of Mane and Firminos performances this season. Whatever, though, at least two of them should be sold and just sign the best finisher we can. That's the only metric I want to see from a new forward. Someone we can stick up top in a 4-2-3-1 and bury chances for fun.
Agree with much of that, Klopp is quite harsh, he really has not allowed any of those subs a consistent run of games to find adequate form. They are just given a chance in an odd game or a few mins here and there. Part of the blame must lie with the manager. I dont believe that Origi or Shaq are as bad as made out to be, the later produces for hia national team and is a key player. Also getting pissed off with him not using that Greek guy and even Ben Davies, how fucking bad can they be ? Its one thing to obsess about fitting into the system etc..but you have to consider using the resources you have. Its not like these later two have not played professional football at a decent level prior to joining us.

New kid, Cade Cowell, 17 years old, is getting a lot of attention here. Might be the next one out of the US talent line.

I hadn't heard of him until some of these highlights. He's built really well for a 17 year old and loves that right-footed volley! Would love to see him get over to Germany or even Austria in the next year or two.

What's your opinion on Brentford striker Ivan
I've already exactly the same question few weeks back. The issue here is Divock might go for anything from £10m to £20m. Brentford bought Ivan Toney for £10m, so I would imagine the fee they would want could be anything from £30m to £50m.

as a replacement for Origi?

BBC Football article:

Ivan Toney: Is prolific Brentford forward ready to become the Premier League's next star striker?

Ivan Toney could still end up In the prem , obv he's only going anywhere if they don't get past the play off final this time

Not sure if Malen is what we need, or if he's good enough.
What are the options?
Andre Silva, would probably cost circa £50m
Donyell Malen, circa £35m
Patson Daka, £35-40m
Ivan Toney £40m
Pedro Neto £50m
Jadon Sancho £80m (being linked to of late)
Memphis Depay - Free, but would probably want £200k a week plus massive signing on bonus

Realistically, I would go for Depay and/or Daka. We still need a Kieta replacement, a AM and RB cover

Maybe Brentford is just good at finding a good centre forward, and then building a side to showcase him?

Maupay, Watkins. and now Toney, have been in the top two goalscorers in the Champ. I'm more convinced by Watkins than Maupay, but point is, shouldn't we expect Toney to be at the same level as these two, once he moves to the Prem?

I dont think we are in a position to gamble on a Championship striker to be our new attacking point man.
If Firmino was still firing on all sylinders, then yes as a back up. But we need our new striker to come in and be ready from the start and I'd feel more secure if he had already performed at a higher level.

The links with Daka and Vlahovic seem to say we're targeting younger strikers who have already found the net on a regular basis at a higher level.

Are we actually linked with any strikers? I feel we are missing a poacher. Someone who can make clever movements in a crowded box, someone who hunts the ball. We have enough players who can run in behind but our Achilles heel is a player who excels in this scenario. It is a shame Iheanacho has shown his capability lately, I rated him quite early on as I always felt he was a great sub/back up as he would just get going full throttle straight away, rather than needing a run of games to get into things. Zero chance of that one now.

I don't know who (if anyone) to believe on twitter any more so just overlook most names that get thrown about.

We are definitely linked but do any of the links have any basis, and will we actually spend money on a quality player?

I feel like we have been too picky/clever at times. The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Cavani, Werner, Havertz, were all available at some point but we didn't do anything about it because we fancied our own players more, or were waiting for a Michael Edwards special.

I'm already resigned to City signing Haaland, Chelsea Malen, Sancho and Kane signing for Utd, and Daka and Buendia heading to Arsenal. Meanwhile, we'll try for Ismaila Sarr and Adama Traore

Hmm.... a striker who can score.
This kind of innovative thinking might just work.

Fuck it. I’m in.

Let’s sign Aguero on a free - even if he’s injured and doesn’t even make the bench all season, he’s still be more useful than Origi.

I’m sure, between them, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Newcastle & Aston Villa have enough cash to pay handsomely to dine on a smorgasbord of Origi, Ox, Matip, Shaq, Minamino and Harry Wilson.

Winnie can fuck off - he can take Tsimakis & Adrian with him.

Someone in Germany will give us a few quid for Naby.

I'm not opposed to the idea of Aguero coming on to play 15-20 minutes at the end of every game. As well as rotation.

It's probably about managing his fitness more than anything......unfortunately either we are shite at that or the amount of games make it impossible.
