Jose Mourinho has revealed that he would like to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Ferguson, 67, has stated his intention to step down at Old Trafford before 2012, but at the moment he shows few signs of giving up the reins after 23 years in charge.

But former Chelsea boss Mourinho has admitted he would readily consider taking charge of United.

"I would consider going to Manchester United but United have to consider if they want me to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson," the Inter Milan chief told the Daily Mirror.

"If they do, then of course.

"I like England, where the fans are very passionate and make the game a beautiful occasion with such an incredible atmosphere."

Mourinho left England two years ago when he quit as boss of Chelsea and he returned to football last season as he guided Inter Milan to the Serie A title.

It has not passed Mourinho by, however, that Chelsea have failed to win the title since his departure.

"I had many conversations before Chelsea and I decided on a divorce," he continued.

"It was difficult for me because we loved each other but the relationship went in one direction and it was best for everyone.

"Since I left I became a champion again but they have not been champions again. I keep on winning and they don't."

I know it's the mirror (nabbed off SSN) but fucking hell.
If he goes there, I dont know what I'd fucking do. They'd mop up everything every bastard season. It would be utterly unbearable. You can spend all you want on players (citeh, madrid) but he makes players run through fucking walls for him.

It'd be an utter disaster if he went there.

I do. I think he's a fantastic manager and an utter WUM.

You'd be a fucking idiot if you didn't 'rate Mourinho'.

He'd be a perfect replacement for Fergie.

It's hardly a magic trick though, is it. It's a bit like Prince Charles saying every house he stays at is awfully posh. Chelski and Milan were hardly struggling and impoverished outfits.

Mourinho's an excellent manager but I don't think he'll be Ferguson's successor, 'coz whoever THAT turns out to be will be on a hiding to nothing. Mourinho's far too savvy to let himself in for that. He'll go there - if asked - as second or third successor to Ferguson, when the old sod's shadow doesn't fall so long across the club any more.

He went to Inter who have dominated Italian football of late. I don't see much of a difference.

I think he'd go to Real or United the first time of asking.

Not everyone rates Mourinho The two top Spanish jopbs have came and went over the last year, he wasn't in the frame for them, so maybe its not a case of being a 'fucking idiot', maybe other people just have a different opinion to you.

I think he's be a disaster for Man Utd, so I hope he goes.

The difference between the Manc job and the Inter job is having to follow Ferguson in the former. They've seen this before at Old Toilet, when Matt Busby retired and his first two successors both bombed. I suppose Mourinho's vanity might lead him to accept the job immediately after Ferguson, but I'd still bet against it.

Drama queen

Maureen's boring, tugrid football wouldn't go down too well at old trafford, plus his transfer record is shocking. I hope he takes them over
