Going back to Benfica.. According to some Portuguese newspapers.

Right decision? .. Probably.. It just has not worked out for him..

I was wondering about this, would FSG "force" the issue and expect a couple of last years signings to be cashed in on? If there really has been talks about scrapping the committee and about Rodgers expressing his dissatisfaction with some of the signings, then you could certainly make a case for Mario and Lorvren, I guess at £20m Markovic isn't far behind.

I don't know what it is about him, but I just can't take to him, he looks like he loves himself (that might be completely the wrong impression) and his play lacks the subtlety you'd expect from a player who allegedly likes to pull strings behind the front line. The kid has talent, no question, he's a good technician and he has a good burst of speed, but he's not great at taking players on (kick and run is pretty much it), his passing is average (with the occasional inspired pass) and his shooting ranges from packing a punch from long range, to hitting it as tame as a 5 year old straight at the keeper.

Like most of our Summer recruits, he was heavily overpriced.

In a nut shell his game doesn’t appear developed enough for the premier league.. He does not appear to have the physical strength...

I've got an idea. How about we train and condition him?

It's like we have 30 day trials with some of these players nowadays.

We must have seen talent and potential in him when he was signed. Didn't we track him from a foetus or something?

I agree, that's more our downfall than his, but I guess in a position where we already have quite a few players (and we seem to be adding more), if Benfica want him for a decent price, maybe he could go. Who knows, maybe the player isn't happy?

I honestly believe Lazar could make it big time here.

In his first season in a new league he's been shunted all over the park.

He's a young lad, give him the raheem treatment (of yester year) and help him grow.

Spending & 20m on a 20 year old and expecting them to hit the ground running in a new country and league with the above conditions is just retarded.

I've never been his greatest fan but unless we can recoup most of what we spent (which we surely won't) then it would be crazy to sell him without giving him another season with a run of games and in a system better suited to him (which we appear to be heading towards).

Bizarre.

He's 20. This is a bit like the time Rodgers tried to swap Henderson for Dempsey.

Why would you give up on an obviously talented player so quickly?

Benfica have told Liverpool about their interest to bring back Lazar Markovic to Portugal, but a deal will be difficult to reach. [A Bola]
Markovic to Benfica was just a very minor article in A Bola's paper edition, so I wouldn't read to much into it.

Yet we seem to think he's signing for them.... As usual... Cant see us selling him after tracking him for that long and given he's 20 years old.

Depends if he can settle here too though

He looks best as a wing forward, but we very rarely play him in that role. I think he could come good for us, he does need to be told to stop losing his bottle when he gets near the box though.

He's not going anywhere.
There's a 20 million footballer in there and to write him off after one season would be right up there with the most stupid decisions the clubs ever made.

He's only 20 FFS. We have no idea how to get the best out of him or where to play him. He's an extremely talented footballer who could go on to be a huge asset to us. But most likely will be a huge asset to someone else.

I think Rodgers has treated him very poorly. He's been played in every position bar centre back and goalkeeper, and usually subbed at half time.

He must feel pretty bemused. The club courted him for about two years, made a huge fuss of him every time they sent reps to see him, all gathered round him when he signed to tell him how delighted they were he'd finally come, and then...treated barely much better than Mario, even though he showed some promise on the few occasions he was allowed to play on the left or more centrally. He was probably sitting there, trying to learn the language, wondering if it was all a huge waste of time.

Bad move............It would be beter to loan hiim to a club like swansea where he could game time and see if he adapts to this league.

Then again, we dont sell to our our rivals.....

I'll be raging if we allow him leave especially on a loan deal. Why loan him back to Benfica anyway? He's already proved he's a hit in that league. He's also helped them reach an Europa League Final. He's a full international and just got his move to a better league for big money. He showed flashes of talent last season even when played out of position. This is the year he kicks on. How about allowing him play in attacking positions in the preseason games.

I'll admit I've a soft spot for him but the talent is there. DO NOT SELL.

There's bound to be loads of cases of players taking a season to settle in or adjust. But the only one I can think of at the moment is Henderson.

Don't believe it. At most it is just a cheeky offer from Benfica, but the reality is more likely that it is made up column inches

He's going to be great - if we let him go that's just one more reason to sack Rodgers immediately.

That's just plain stupid.
