Man Utd Build Up & Match Thread

BR didn't get it right, but let's have it right... those players were shite. They didn't press, they couldn't find a pass. They let the first half hour of the game pass them by like they were doing at the start of the season. I'd have the players publicly flogged before picking on the manager today.

Even I was wanting Lucas on for Allen. Fellaini was just waltzing around with no-one up in his shit. Pathetic. But that's on Allen and Henderson. They both looked scared of him. As for Sterling. Fucking little shit. Who the fuck does he think he is?

And Gerrard. His Faustian wowcher expired las April. The sooner he fucks off the better.

Well I think he needs to be asked why the players started so horribly badly. The manager and his staff are supposed to make sure the team goes out in the right mood. Everyone knew how we needed to start. Yet they began in slow motion. All of them. How the hell did that happen?

He didn't go full jedi with his man-management skills.

Relax. We have 13 unbeaten in a row... and dont have margins with us in a single game. We will definatelay finish top four IF we find back to the same row of averaging 2.4 poi ts a game.

The one moment of humour to come out of that shitfest was seeing the crowd hold back Balotelli before he ripped Smalling's head off.

The Skrtel incident at the end was nothing like Costa's, as someone said. There was a lot more pace involved, and he was looking straight ahead. I also believe that Skrtel would never intentionally do that. If was, he'd have made sure he did a better job of it. I'm definitely giving him the benefit of the doubt.

It was just one of those games unfortunately it came against our worst enemy, scum will still lose games as they've a tough run in. One game at a time starting with arsenal away for us.. We can do it

Ah. Phil J got away with headbutting one guy and cutting the knees of another. Of course Allen was booked as a guy fell infront of him and Balo the same.... Ref was a total joke today, but considering it was against United he is actually not in top five stupid refs in these games I reckon.

Atkinson awards a foul if a player falls over, and produces a yellow card if that player rolls over a few times.

I despair at the way these kinds of matches are refereed.

Firstly, they tend to give players a ten minute window of impunity, because, er, it's unusually competitive. That begins the illogicality that dogs the whole game.

Then refs suddenly start penalising players for what they've spent the past ten minutes ignoring.

Then they allow themselves about twenty minutes pondering which one player to book as a warning to everyone else - it's a bit like waiting for your auntie at Christmas to decide which choccie she wants from the selection box.

Then in the second half they start getting really peeved with one team and really tolerant of the other, for no logical reason. It's probably not at all premeditated. They just seem to flip a coin mentally and use cards for one team and words for the other.

It's depressingly predictable and it happens time and again. The standard of refereeing is abysmal.

Jason Roberts on MOTD: 'You have to give credit to the way both sides went about their business today'. Is he on fecking crack?

I know I said this before but I just couldn't believe Di Maria wasn't booked for catching the ball in the field of play. What the fuck is the reasoning behind that?

Shearer, that saint of a player, is determined to get the FA to charge Skrtel for the 'blatant' foot in at the end. I don't think that it can be that black and white. Skrtel didn't change his run, and he couldn't leap over De Gea long ways. He could have meant it, but it surely comes down to one word against another.

Atkinson smiled after Di Maria caught it.
Fucking embarrassing and then you have to listen to Gallagher come on Sky Sports and blatantly defend every decision that's made.

- We defended far too deep from the off. I know people are praising Skrtel, and he did handle Rooney well, but it's his role in the middle of the back 3 to set the line. I know I say this everytime, but Terry is the best in the league at managing a defensive line. Skrtel's been magnificent this season, but his inability to know how and when to push up costs us.

- Didn't think Allen was great, especially first half, but Hendo was horrific. He doesn't get anywhere near enough of the ball for someone that moves as much as he does.

- Our entire shape was pressed deep. Deep defenders, Allen trying to account for Fellaini, and wing-backs pressed back. All fucking compounded by Sturridge who simply fails to ever run in behind or provide an option for the out-ball. you don't have to be quick to run in behind, you just have to be willing to run. His efforts at chasing are token ones, and he doesn't do enough as a target man for me.

- The change - if Brodge had the balls for it - was to flip to a 4-4-1-1. United kept pushing us into the middle and cos we were attacking from so deep we got nowhere. I thought Coutinho did ok, but he was picking it up 30 yards from our own fucking goal. Going 4-4-1-1 would have allowed our wide men to get higher up the pitch and onto Blind/Valencia. We never pressed their full-backs once, mostly because we were so fucking deep.

- Moreno looked like he'd won a competition to get a game before kick off. And Balotelli can well and truly get fucked.

- Credit to those cunts though. They bossed the shit out of us in that first 45. Mata's fucking wonderful, but I thought Carrick ran the entire show. Top player.

If a goalkeeper catches a ball outside his box it's a definite yellow. And depending on other circumstances it could be a red.

I fail to see the difference here.

@Leo, incidentally, what did Gallagher say about it? And indeed, how did he defend some of the other appalling decisions?

He hasn't been on yet but he has this poxy little slot on Ssn usually of a Monday where he comes on and discusses the performance of the refs over the weekend.
It's tedious drivel mostly.
