Man United (H)

Fucking hate this game.
We should have enough to beat them comfortably but you just never know with the cunts and this game in particular.

Would love nothing more than to mercilessly annihilate them again but I'll take any win right now.

Utd 7/1 to win 😀😀

Even the bookies have more faith in us than some of the pessimists on SCM.

Don't think even Luton were that much of underdogs.

I see that Redcafe's members are backing their team:

I don't like the leadup to this one at all. The whole narrative is, what a great time to play United, they've got no chance, how many goals will Liverpool score. Meanwhile we've been scraping along. I'm not saying we aren't rightly favoured at home, but I just don't think we have put a very convincing performance together in a while, and I don't think we have any forwards in form.

We were and we all miss Sadio but the most memorable and devastating win over these cunts came when he wasn't around.

That 7-0 wasnt anywhere near as convincing, oddly, as several other performances against them. Especially in the first half.

8 days rest vs 4 games in 8 days will see us right. In football anything can happen but I’ve got faith.

Their backs are against the wall. Ordinarily they lack any semblance of backbone anyway but sometimes that's when teams can be at their most dangerous.

I'm taking us to win, but not by much. 2-1 to us wouldn't surprise me at all.

We should and will win but it will be 1-0 2-1 sort of territory.
The Redcafe lot are a set of hysterical fannies

Right….and no other result against them was anywhere as convincing as that 7-0. Pick your side of the pond.

Maybe so but you’ll always pick the better scoreline for your team, so 7-0 for me. If you think back far enough teams lose out on titles by +1 of a goal difference.
The question wasn’t about goal difference or titles. It was about our most dominant display against Utd and 5-0 away was it by a country mile.

Maybe, I’m still picking the 7-0. Stats wise both games were very similar, managed more passes and control in the 5-0 mostly because we played 11v10 for the last third.

Also contributed to Ole being removed so not all upside

Actually on second thoughts it did bring in Ragnick which made matters worse, especially when he said it like it (still) is

With Shaw apparently fit, Ten Hag could go three at the back with Evans,Varane and Shaw. With Amrabat in front, and Darlot and Wan-Bisaka as wingbacks, they’d be very compact and tough to break down. Then they can use Rashford and Anthony/Hojland on the break

I don’t think he will but that’s probably their best bet

For us I’d be expecting

"…………….Allison
Trent - Konate - VVD - Tsimikas
……………..Endo
…...Szobo……….Gravenberch
salah ………Nunez ……Diaz

5-0 at OT was infinitely more impressive.

Yeah the 5-0 game we were 4 ahead by half time and cruised it. We were just miles better than them and took our foot off the gas when they started launching into 2 footed tackles out of petulence.

The common threads in the two games was us forcing lots of tunrovers/mistakes through high intensity play and the Utd team folding completely when they face an uphill battle. They did the same thing against Bournemouth last week, the drop a goal get sloppy and then quit when they get punished. They are an incredibly weak team mentally which is incredible to those of us who've watched Man Utd teams over the last 30 years.

Yeah I think that's most likely. I think we will miss Robbos intensity in this game. We need Szoboszlai VvD and Trent to set the tempo

Salah will work his ass off defensively too. He always does in the big games.
Odds on for a yellow for taking his shirt off too.

I would greatly prefer other performances against them, but I'd pick that result any day. I'd love any win.

Taking a game away from the opposition earlier or as early as we did will generally be seen as the greater accomplishment as it gives fans room to relax, maybe the quality of the goals in the 5-0 were better but over a 90min period I don't see how the 5-0 was more convincing.

Maybe Klopp's tactics in the 5-0 was to start quick and then cool off and in the 7-0 it was to start slower and finish strong. We'll never know.
