I wonder how some of you can call yourself Liverpool fans.

I will tell you the reason to why manager after manager played Lucas. They know that he won't sulk. They know that he will always give 100% in every game in every situation. He puts the team before himself. He is a 100% team player. He is also our most physical player. Some of you even says that he is weak as fuck. That weak as fuck player makes the most tackles a game year after year after year.

I lost count on how many yellow cards he taken because one our players fucked it up but some idiots will still blame him. He is excellent reading the game so it is no wonder that he very often is there to clean up the mess.

Some of you HATE a player that always puts the team first. He is our best team player. Feel free to continue to hate him so I can continue to laugh at you. A squad need players like Lucas. Players that put the team first. Team players. The club that tops the league at the moment is packed with Lucas type of players, team players. Big egos destroy club after club but they would be loved by you Lucas haters. A club need hard working players like Lucas. A club will never get good results without them.
Lies, LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8 years on, 5 managers, different owners and still same arguments about our wonderman.
Never a player has divided fans such as Lucas

Funnily enough is the only manager that wanted to sell him was Hodgson.

And Rodgers - only no bastard would buy him - the best bid we had for this wonderful player was about £3.5m from Turkey

Which is quite reasonable...what was our valuation?

I find it hard to believe hes still playing regularly never mind people pushing for Lucas to replace Skrtel at CB

A club will never get good results without him?

Hopefully we buy a new trophy cabinet....the current one is running out of space.

Be quiet Dreambeliever.

Carragher was, at his peak, one of the best central defenders in Europe. Versatile too, given in that treble season you mention, he was superb at left back.

Was that the same period where he didn't get a look in for England? He was a good defensive left back but offered almost nothing going forward. We used to joke about him crossing the halfway line.

I was more referring to him as a CB where I think the idea of him being spoken about in the same light as the Hyppia or Hansen is laughable.

He was solid with some superb displays but equally some absolute rubbish for long periods and was dropped on more than one occasion

You can be brave and still be weak.

Who to believe?
Alex Ferguson who thinks Carragher was brilliant or one of the biggest spanners ever to get interweb connection.
Hard one that.

It's amazing how the Oirish constantly take the piss out of England, yet it's now being used as a stick to beat Carragher with. This is the same England who picked Ledley fucking King ahead of him, who had players like Michael Ricketts representing them at the time.

It's a shite point Pat, give it up. Henchoz was at the pinnacle for about 2 seasons of his career (and was relegated as part of a piss poor Blackburn defense). Carragher played for nearly 15 years and most of that was, at the very least, a good standard, he held positions in centre midfield, left back, right back and centre back. The halfway line stuff is nonsense. He's been part of some of the meanest defences we've had. By comparison we've had pleasing on the eye, galloping, elegant defenders all over the shop over the last 20 odd years who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

The lad's a fucking legend and was a great defender. No one compared him to our two best defenders ever, but he's still in the mix of some of the best defenders we've had. Quit this stupid controvercial personna, you get some unfair, nasty criticism at times, but you're asking for it with this nonsense.

His time is at an end. I am sorry for your pain.

DB is an Aussie now.

He was never dropped under Rafa. It was him plus someone else.

He is indeed a legend and played for a long time but I stand by my point, he wasn't a top class CB when you compare him to the very best who played for us.
I'll always rate Henchoz of the treble season ahead of Carra at his peak, perhaps I'm the only one but fair enough.

I just don't see it Pat. I think he complimented Sami very well, it was just one of those defensive units that became the sum of it's parts. By the close of the first season his flaws were becoming apparent and he was exposed alot more in his second season. Good player and crucial to that short spell, but that's about it. It just happened to be one of our best defensive units, and lets not forget, he was protected by two central/out-and-out defenders playing fullback, in Babbel and Carragher, so that helped significantly.

*applause*

Carragher is actually underrated I think. Brilliant footballer

I reckon Carra was one of the smartest footballers who have ever played for us.
He never stopped learning.
His legendary status is fully deserved.

Yup. I always remember after he came back from the leg break that he was making a conscious effort to get forward more often from full back.

Then i read his book and he confirmed it by mentioning using his time off injured to examine his own game and study other full backs to see what would make him better
