I'm not a purist. OK, so Alan Hansen is my favourite ever player, but Carragher isn't far behind. And Jamie Carragher is twice the footballer Sakho is, or will ever be, without being what many purists might love in a defender.

Reasoned how? I don't think I'm the only Liverpool fan who has large doubts about Sakho, and it's nothing to do with what he looks like, or being a 'purist'
As for the 'pointless comparison' I don't think it's too absurd to compare a current central defender to the last genuinely class one who played for us. Who, coincidentally, doesn't rate Sakho either. Or Lovren, for that matter.

Carra and Sami are the best CH we've had in the PL era. The really great thing about them is that they made their defensive partners look better than they are. Skrtel and Agger only ever looked good enough when partnering one of them.
I liked Henchoz too. I also quite liked Agger. And Skrtel may not be the player he was, but he was exceptional only a couple of seasons back.
He was very good at LB when we won the Treble.

I have no idea what the issue is with Lucas - I actually did not think he was the problem for us against Watford, I could site nearly all the others in our team for their faults. The only game in which Lucas had me stressed was the Chelsea one where I thought he may get sent off but luckily he did not, and given the view on him on these forums - it was really lucky.
One thing people seemed to have not picked up on is that maybe if Milner played we would have been more solid in Midfield but then most people on here think he is shit despite the fact that Milner has a cool head and does a lot of running for us both offensively and defensively. Lucas - like it or not is very much a part of our starting line up and one of our main players.
He's not really its just everyone else Rossiter and Allen are as shite as him. As soon as Klopp gets his hands on a decent midfielder he's gone.
