Fair enough. I think it's just the style of play you often see from really physical players these days though, you almost exclusively see it in those sorts.
I think his passing is really undervalued though, especially in a back line with young bombing fullbacks, and with Lovren being off form at the moment. As far as marking and tackling goes, he's typically excellent.
It's a bit like Jose Enrique for me, where people seem to forget how few goals he's responsible for us conceding. And we're not exactly swimming in solid defensive options at the moment either, which is why I really appreciate the consistency. Even if the control isn't the greatest, retaining possession and typically solid if awkward defensive work makes him quite valuable. He fucks up like any other player, but the number of times those are fatal errors are quite low, which has been the opposite of Lovren or Skrtel.
I think he's developing an understanding with Gerrard as well. Definitely feels like given the choice, the midfield likes to pass to Sakho. He does a great job of patiently feeding the midfield, while I've noticed Lovren had a tendency right now to launch it.
I reckon we aren't seeing the best of Sakho at the moment, but we will.
