Its about time we put another manager under the spotlight.
He arrived with a big reputation, that combined with lots of money and it was inevitable that United were going to get back on their perch.
Since taking over he's bought the following:
Firstly in 14/15:
Di Maria - disaster
Falcao - disaster mitigated by the fact it's a loan deal
Shaw - looks like they paid for hype.
Blind - seems useful enough
Rojo - same
Herrera - decent
They won 6 more points than the previous season despite a massive outlay on the above players. Two of them have left already. And i think the season is summed up well here:
"In typical United fashion, they finished fourth, but they did it on the back of results that outstripped the quality of their performances. There was a parade of weird flukes and games when almost every United shot found the back of the net. Getting consistently outshot is no way to go through life if you expect to be a Champions League team, and yet United managed."
Add in that some potentially unrepeatable heroics from De Gea as well.
This summer he's bought:
Depay - looks good, but I think he'll take time to be a success in the league.
Schneidelein- Smashing player. seems to have been the key to Southampton
Schweinsteiger - a punt on shaking a good season or two out of a previously great player.
Darmian - looks fine so far.
Overall you'd have to say the signings are mixed. Although that may change if they find someone to:
It's nice to see them lose out on Otamendi and particulalry Pedro when they badly need something up front.
The pressure will be on this season to win something, and I have to say I think it's obvious they'll win the league by 25 points this season.
