LFC vs Man City (Unoffy thread)

My heart will break that little bit more should Downing be in the starting 11. It's soul destroying watching that wimpy, lazy, negative cunt in a Liverpool shirt.

If I were Rodgers, I would be trying to get the best out of Andy Carroll. Nobody is going to come in for him at the moment, and if they do it will be a last minute deal, which will leave us too short up front and with no time to find a replacement.

Rodgers may not like it, but he hasn't got a lot of choice.

But I would start Borini ahead of him for City. He deserves a chance up front because he looks, to me, more of a poacher than a wing forward, whereas the opposite is true of Luis Suarez. If it's not working then give Andy a chance. When his head is screwed on and he's got a point to prove we all know he can be one very dangerous player. We saw it against Chelsea when he came of the bench. Rodgers would be foolish not to make the most of it. And even more foolish to consider Joe fucking Cole ahead of him.

P.P.S. - I really hope Bob Mancini starts Rodwell again, he looked really nervous and helped to gift Southampton a goal.

Yes, he made a mistake for the 2nd goal But I thought he had quite a good game in general. He only gave the vball away 3 times, 1 of them being hugley costly though as you say. I was surprisingly impressed with him all the same. Saw some of the potential that he supposedly has

Rodgers should have kept his mouth shut until he saw our team play with his own eyes. Now that he has flapped his gums so much he'll look completely ridiculous if he
a) starts carroll
b) drops downing
c) shifts suarez out wide
d) drops borini
e) includes suso or pacheco
f) starts sterling
He committed himself way way too early, probably because our players fooled him into thinking they were good. Now he's fucked. The sad thing is his man-management skills are actually good, as is his personality. But his cunt-management skills have been found wanting.

I'm not sure he's completely committed to any one formation quite yet. And if he has leaned one way or another, "completely ridiculous" might be, perhaps, a completely ridiculous way to characterize a change of tack. It'd be fine to see he's flexible and willing to change. And if he keeps the same squad, it'd be fine, too. It would mean a 3-0 defeat on the first game of the year hasn't made him lose his shit. Which is more than can be said for some people. What's with the panic? Fucked after one game? I guess Man U. should write off this season too now that they lost their first game?

It's too late. The time to realise this and pick them in those positions was from day one. Instead he wanted to fuck Carroll. So what now. If he picks Borini as a striker, the message it will send him is that he's a shit wing forward and this is a move of desperation. Borini will understand that and he won't play that role with any confidence, it will go to shit.

That's the thing with football, when you make a mistake it will fuck you for the entire year. And nothing you can do or try will change it. It will just make it worse. Like quicksand.

Shut up, Modo.
O Carroll my Saviour and my Striker, I, Thine unprofitable servant, with fear and trembling give thanks unto Thy loving goodness for all Thy benefits which Thou hast poured so abundantly upon me, Thy servant. I fall down in adoration before Thee and offer Thee, O Carroll, my praises; with fervour I cry to Thee: O Carroll, deliver me henceforth from all adversities and mercifully fulfil in me such of my desires as may be expedient for me. Hear me, I entreat Thee, and have mercy, for Thou art the Hope of all the ends of the earth, and unto Thee, with the Gaffer, and the Club, be ascribed glory, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

For example, he's allowed Gerrard to feel like he is 25 again and playing in a free role behind the striker. Maybe in 1925 you could play a 424, but it seems important to like have at least three midfield players in our new formation. Most teams have 4. So what now? There's now way he can tell Gerrard to chill out, without making a complete fuck up of the situation and his confidence.

Cheer up Gary, it's not like we could have done much better for 20m.

Gotta say that was well worth the effort.
It took me to not read it.

Sheik is 100% in predictions for us this PL season so i'm tempted to copy him

It took very little effort. He just had to take down the picture frame from his bedroom wall, and carefully remove the piece of paper. Scan it into the computer using optical character recognition. Then use find-replace for all instances of Aquilani-O'Carroll, and finally paste the result here.

for heaven's sake we've only lost one game! We had a great deal of possession and no end product and seriously lacked pace and creativity (other than Sueraz despite the misses created his own chances). By having two pacey tricky wingers we can give City's back four nightmares.

After my last prediction, I'm back on the 'universe revolves around my predictions' schtick. We'll lose. 0-8.

I think City will win, but it would make beating them even more sweet. I'm looking forward to it.

I think he should give Borini a chance in the centre and play Suarez on the left of the front three. Assaidi on the right. Borini is cool in front of goal and has good movement.

Ryan keeps bleating on about how good your wide players have to be when playing this system. We have two players in Suarez and Assaidi who can do what he outlined in the autopsy thread.

--Suarez---Borini---Assaidi

--------------Gerrard
--------Lucas--------Allen

What harm could it do?

The wide players do have to be great, but we don't have great wide players, so what's he gonna do?

I also mentioned the importance of full-back support for the wide front 2, which they didn't get on Saturday. If Enrique is fit, then the natural balance that will come out of he and Glenjo on their correct wings will help Borini and Downing considerably.

I really can't see any changes to the midfield or forwards to be honest.

I think for the Hearts game you play the smae back 4 if enrique is still out. It is a big decision who to pick for City. my choice would be Coates. Just hope enrique can play that one. Carragher was all over the place the last time. How on earth can a player who is supposed to have the experience to read a game as his strength be so out of depht?

For the Midfield I would go for the same 3. they can only get better together, and we all know their capacity when they are on form.

Top three. Borini, Suarez and Carroll. Downing need to go. To throw a cheap Maroccon we have never seen or heard about is the same as advocating that Nabir El Zar is a better choice than Andy. He might of course come good, but we can't use this game to test if he holds water in PL.
