Does anyone know if Sahin has played any pre-season football? If so, Rodgers regularly set Swansea up with no out-and-out DM but used Allen and Britton as deep-lying playmakers (Britton the deeper of the 2) with defined defensive roles i.e. harry the opposition when we're not in possession. For Allen & Britton swap Allen & Sahin.

This team would have them worried; Sahin & Allen would cut them to shreads with their passing, Suarez & Borini would wander all over looking to attack from all angles, Gerrard would be free of most defensive duties and augment the attack down the middle and Carroll wouldn't give their CB's a moments peace. If Rodwell is their idea of a DM'er this team would have a field day against City.
Lucas can come on for Sahin if he's feeling the pace when we're 2-0 up and coasting.

Obviously I know Rodgers won't pick the team I've suggested but I'm fed up with us fearing the top opposition and our fears usually being realised. We're beginning to put together a very good squad and I want to see United, City and Chelsea fear us and THEIR fears being realised.
That might work if we had better players at doing that than they do, but we're not even close in that department.

Maybe red-tinted glasses but I reckon we've got the edge in the midfield/forward line if we lined up as I suggested and City line up as expected. I've given Yaya the edge over Sahin but I've never seen Sahin play so that's just a guess.
You definitely have rose tinted glasses if you think we're stronger up front than City.
We're not if we play Downing, Henderson, Shelvey, Adam etc but if we played my 6 we'd at least match them for talent.

Kelly, Enrique, Carra, Spearing, Adam, Borini and Agger didn't take part in todays training it seems.
It looks as if Coates will be starting.
Assaidi will probably be on the bench. Pacheco might be involved as well.
