LFC v WBA match thread

It wasn't a lapse in concentration that gave someone that split second to get in ahead of the marker from an attack though, it was 'another' moment of stupidity from someone who's supposed to be an International class defender.

I'll take that he's a good player, but he's a shockingly indifferent defender and the fact that we keep having this conversation, and the fact that this issue keeps raising debate at club and international level should be enough to set the alarm bells ringing.

And let's forget the 'well in a side that keeps the ball better he'd be a perfect acquisition' notion. Football isn't played on paper, it's played on a pitch in shitty conditions where large portions of the game are spent trying to win the ball back to rebuild an attack. When we haven't got the ball and he's asked to hold his position and adopt a defensive mentality and sensibility, he's consistently a weak link.

Only God knows why he didnt just let it go out for a throw in. When in doubt kick it out.

We actually lost because, unlike us, they had a striker who could capitalise on a mistake and put the ball in the back of the fucking net.
Technically that's why we didn't win. And I'm sure if we were gifted a chance we would take it.

Tbh don't even know why I'm arguing. I think it was hendersons continual hesitation that slowed our play, and his insistence on passing yards behind his own players too.

True, it's all hypothetical

Against Everton we did, so I'm choosing to go with that!

It's just so predictable as this thread indicated. We dominate, miss chances galore hit the woodwork and then lose. The good news is hat if we bought a few attacking players we would be there. We're not that far away. Honestly at this point I find or results comedic

Seriously, have you looked at the league table - we are that far away.

This notion that we're playing great stuff and just a few players short of challenging is poppycock (a word I haven't used that word in ages).

WBA were fucking terrible - they actually asked us to spank them 8-0. They dropped their pants, bent over, lubed up & spread their cheeks for us.

What did we do? We fumbled around and failed to even get our cock out let alone anywhere near the right hole.

64% possession. 30 shots and according to the official site only 9 were on goal and still Riena made the saves of note.

It's not just finishing our entire attacking unit us woefully out of form or shite.

It's one or two players we need, it's 4 or 5.

I seriously wonder if Dalglish sent the boys out to practice against 11 traffic cones, whether we wouldn't struggle to score. We'd probably concede one after an unfortunate ricochet clipped off a cone and wrong footed Riena.

Mind you traffic cones probably have more mobility than Carroll.

Carroll created 8 chances for his teammates yesterday. More than any other Liverpool player this season in one game

Can we lose if the defender doesn't do their job? Yes.
Can we lose if the strikers don't do their job? Not directly. If the defenders did their job then we should get a draw.
Johnson gave them a goal. Us scoring is irrelevant to us conceding.

If the strikers scored, we wouldn't have lost.

If we were 3-0 up and we conceded 1, we'd still win.

So yes, us scoring is just relevant to losing as the defence. Not sure why you're arguing over this though.

If the defenders do their job we shouldn't lose

If the strikers do their job we should win.

Both didn't do their job yesterday, but the DEFENCE not doing its JOB cost us getting anything from the match

that's too simplistic , it's about the whole team defending and attacking as one . this isn't nfl !

it's really difficult deciding what direction to move forwards. do we continue on our path and hope that a couple of quality signings turns our possession into goals or do we rip things up get in a new manager and start from stratch. from a personal point of view I would keep kenny but I would have no problem with the americans removing kenny at the end of the season, it's not like it wouldn't be justified.

But johnson lost possession in a dangerous position! I'd agree with you normally but west Brom did not look like scoring until that gift

I don't understand our tactics.

We don't have a plan b and our plan a isn't great either

This is the stat that annoys me regarding this season:

With Lucas
Win 50% lose 16.7%

Without Lucas
Win 28.6% lose 42.8%

Lucas has still the most tackles made in our squad 21 games after his injury.......

He's rubbish though. Lets all have a Lucas fight today. We've not had one for a while.

Agreed.

Look at Barcelona. They concede the odd goal due to poor defending but their sheer force of their attack often renders those conceded goals meaningless (ditto Real). Perhaps if the defenders didn't push up so high and help the attack, they might concede less goals but I doubt they'd win as many matches.

Johnson made a silly mistake but as the defence was so high up the field trying to help us win the game no-one was in position to cover for him.

So the defence cops the blame ultimately for losing us the match but if the attackers were able to do their job in the first place, they wouldn't have been put in that position.

The team as a whole is at fault.

keni knows...

Actually Spidey it's all your fault. We were following your preferred tactics and your favourite full back fucked everything up

Agreed, but a 20 mill international defender should know better. Thats a mistake you make when you're 16.
Johnson is a liability with his concentration issues.

it's true it is my preferred tactics and my favorite fullback but we needed gerrard (or jonjo) through the middle rather than kuyt out wide and we needed to be more clinical up front. buy you're right, I didn't think kenny did a hell of a lot wrong.
