With Lallana still out, should we go for the same line up?

I actually think we played well despite not being able to score. I would however like to see Sturridge integrated into the line up and it's not just because of the result last weekend.

Possible team:

---------------------Karius

Clyne-------Matip-------Lovren-----Milner

---------Henderson---Wijnaldum

------------------Coutinho

Mané-----------Sturridge------Firmino

Switch Firmino and Coutinho and that's it for me too.
Towards the end of the game Coutinho dropped deeper and dictated our attacking play from there. Think he'd be able to do a better job in that role especially against a Sunderland that would be looking to park the bus against us.

Think this is Sturridge's big chance to prove that he can evolve into a player that fits in.

I'm optimistic that Sunderland will make the mistake of playing 2 up front again which will play into our hands. They have played Anichebe and Defoe up front for the last 2 games and this has coincided with their first 2 wins and I think/hope Moyes will stick with this. If he does I reckon we will win convincingly because we will overrun their midfield/defence. If he actually thinks about it he should realise that their 2 wins came against Bournemouth and Hull neither of whom are very potent going forward. He should play 4-5-1 and try to keep it 0-0 as long as possible but I don't think he'll change a winning team. Either way I reckon we'll be too good for them but if he goes 4-4-2 I reckon we could score quite a few.

I'd be OK with that, as long as Firmino's role was pretty much the same as it always is, and he doesn't have to stay wide. If we allow Sturridge and him to move all across the front line, and drop deep or wide as and when they please, then fine.

Yep, that movement is essential, Mane and Sturridge combined superbly doing that against Leicester, would be great to see all three of them doing it. What time / day is this game?

Agree. Coutinho is better a little deeper and driving into the defence whilst Firmino is better, and more creative, in and around the box.

Jurgen Klopp's press conference - the main points

That’s it from Jurgen Klopp’s press conference. More stories and videos due shortly, so do stick around.
There were a LOT of questions about Steven Gerrard. So much so that Jurgen got a little bit annoyed with the last one.
Here are the main points:
  • Klopp says season is getting ‘more and more intense’
  • Reds boss happy with Southampton performance - says they forced Saints to defend deep
  • Liverpool will not underestimate Sunderland
  • Reds boss says Anichebe and Defoe are a big threat
source: The Echo (I've omitted the Gerrard comments)

MOYES: "Anybody who plays against Liverpool has to park the double-decker bus, but we also have two centre forwards scoring goals."

Sounds like he'll be starting both Anichebe and Defoe then.

Defoe is always a livewire around the box and Anichebe is in good form and is a powerful lad so not ruling it out that they cause us problems but if they go 4-4-2 that could easily play into our hands. Potentially run all over them in midfield and cut them open at will...IF we're on our game...which you'd like to think we will be given the players will have a bit of frustration in them we didn't take all 3 points at So'ton last week.

4-1 I'm predicting here.

Yeah, I think this is game where Sturridge gets his first goal of the season. I think we're gonna get at least 4 as well.

Not so sure, a defensive 4-4-2 is one of the harder systems to break down. We will grind them down if Matip/Lovren successfully cut the supply line to Anichebe; if not we will waste energy defending against their counter-attacks.

If the winner goes for a 442 then it could end up being the first live televised rape.
I'd play the same team and formation as vs southampton.

Man United played a 4-4-1-1 which reverted into a 6-3-1 on the defence, Moyes system tomorrow won't be that much different, so people need to calm down a little.

I'll go for a solid 3 points with no injuries. Sunderland are gaining momentum and confidence. We will be naive to ignore them.

Anything less than complete humiliation of Moyes is unacceptable. We don't want him walking away from this game, talking about it being up there with his greatest managerial achievement, finishing above us.

Everton will probably release a DVD if Moyes gets a result at Anfield today,

Klopp: "We have got a few guys who are struggling a little bit this week (injuries) and we will have to make a few late decisions." #LFC

Sturridge appaz wasnt in the latest training pics from yesterday.

Guess that rules out what slim chance Sturridge had of playing then:

---------------Karius----------------
Clyne----Matip---Lovren--Milner
-------------Henderson------------
-------Wijnaldum---Coutinho----
----Mane------Firmino----Origi--

I imagine there won't be much rotation though, because we've got the cup game coming up anyway. I'd like to see Ejaria on the bench though.
