Who would you go for Peas and Ham?
I still dont want Mourinho the repelent little twat, and everybody else is a risk.

I couldn't agree more that every potential manager is a risk but Barca took a risk with Guardiola, Porto took a risk with Mourinho, Arseanl took a risk with Wenger and we took 2 big risks with Shankly and Paisley.

I want us to find the next Mourinho/Pep etc and I think either Lambert (Norwich) or Rodgers (Swansea) could become great managers. There's huge risk involved but if we get it right we could find our "Ferguson" i.e. a manger good enough and young enough to win us shitloads for many years.

I dont mind if people dont want to, its up to them. I just cant get with the idea of changing a manager we have had for a year who took over from 4 years of H + G missrule and one year of Hodgson shambolism and earned us a trophy and a route into Europe in his first season.
Its not fucking pretty in the league but we could yet win more trophies than Spurs, City, Chelsea and Arsenal combined. He HAS to have another year given where we were and where we are.
I think people have blotted out teams a year ago with Poulsen, Konchesky, Jovanovic and Krygiakos in them i honestly do.
We have to give a manager time. Not because he is Kenny, but because he has taken us forward.
There has to be real improvement in the league next year. Kenny knows that better than anyone.

Leave Krygiakos alone you gimp. That man was a legend

I would really like to think that Kenny would still be manager by the end of next season. The improvement needed for that to be the case though is immense.

If things are not improving how long can he get?

well considering all he has done and what he represents to the club and fans , he will always be the King ....but if you are to isolate this spell as manager then i can't deny I've not been too impressed with many aspects of it .

Although i don't necessarily disagree with his backing of Suarez I personally think he made lots of mistakes in the way he handled the situation . He could have been a little bit more diplomatic at times and he really needed to provide better explanation on the club's stance and exact reasons why he was backing Suarez himself . We took a kicking and never managed to win support when I do think there were opportunities to do so . Ok in fairness you could argue that he was maybe following instruction from above and certainly the day after the non handshake it's obvious he probably was but before i'd be very surprised if he didn't play a major role in the clubs strategy to handle the situation . And yes,yes we were shafted , the FA , the media and Fergie are cunts but i truly believe if we had done things slightly differently we could have avoided such a long ban and media witch hunt which you can argue was the start of the league campaign at least going to piss .

And since then i must admit his interviews and general handling of the media have irritated me a bit . Of course they are a load of cunts and it was brilliant the way he handled them when he first came in . But since the Suarez thing and results dipping he's not come across the best . Of course if you're winning you can fuck the media off as much as you like but if you're not then they'll love nothing more than to put the boot in like they are now . And i truly believe it all adds to a negative cloud above the club , if people say it enough people will believe it . It just doesn't help . As annoying as it is you have to handle the media to a degree , at least be open to difficult questions and criticism . It's also the main way we as fans get to hear his views and get some comfort that he sees the many issues and is addressing them . Now he probably does see them but from what he's recently been saying i can't deny i worry he isn't and isn't addressing the obvious problems , he seems more pissed off at things being questioned at all and is stubbornly digging his heals in .

But i guess both of those things are more minor in terms of should he be in charge next season and i can imagine lots of you disagree with them. For me the main thing is that everything goes back to the terrible signings . They were a waste of a large budget and missed opportunity to move on a number of steps . If kenny sticks by these players and can't shift them on or add top, top quality to the ranks then i just predict another season very similar to this . In fact it might even be worse as we don't seem to have a very mentally strong team .
I fear the mistake in buying the lot of them might be too hard to correct if again we don't have a large budget . Equally though if we were to move him on and a new manager comes in but doesn't have money to spend then i doubt we'd be alot better off as these players are simply not good enough for our long term aims (which i hope are still champions league and league challengers ) .

Anyway that's my book on the Kenny situation . I just really , really don't know what the best course to take is . I would love Kenny to be the man to lead us to where we want to be but i fear he won't be able to so i am not sure how long we should give him . I guess right now i am slightly siding on moving him o in the summer especially if he can't or doesn't correct the transfer mistakes of last summer .
But whatever happens i'll always still have massive respect for him but you wonder how many others still will if things don't improve quickly. Souness was never loved like Kenny but he was still a great player for us but look how many still hate him for his failings as manager . I hope we don't see the same with Kenny .

Are some people afraid to say they want him gone? I thought there was a lot more saying he hasn't a clue etc.

If I wanted him gone I would have no qualms in saying so but I think his apporach of last season was promising (albeit with no pressure) so I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt to correct his mistakes but if the losses continue then his position will become untenable because a rot of such magnitude wouldn't be allowed to continue regardless of his standing at the club.

whatever happens to kenny my opinion of him of a player, a man and to a lesser extent a manager (first time around) will remain unchanged.

I've always maintained he should have another year, but i'd completely understand if he didn't get one

Im quite surprised at these results. I thought the groundswell of opinion was against.
Pleasantly surprised.

yeah but is that not because you asked "still the king?" ? If you had asked do you want him here next season or not then i imagine the results might be slightly different . For most who are siding on a change he will still always be the King , respected and loved .

if kenny stays and ships out the majority of his signings to many that will make him look like a laughing stock and that he is admitting his mistakes but to me it show at least he realises he has made mistakes and is moving to correct them.

Once again for the English speaking members of the audience ?

Me.

Kenny's performance for us as a player should have no bearing on his performance as a manger.

To be more accurate, 'his performance for us as a player AND manager'. He's not just a legend because of his playing career.

I think a fair few voters would still vote yes to 'do think kenny should get another year'

Did I word it badly then?
My question was do you want him here next season.
I dun a whoopsie?

If the board had a short list of managers to replace Kenny and they could get their number one choice then I would hope they would do that. Otherwise I would give him another season to fix up his mess.

the questions reads like, 'is kenny (the man) still ace' rather than 'do you think kenny should get another year'.
doesn't matter as my answer is yes either way.

Why would you trust the board to select the right man?
They know NOTHING about football.

there was no question in my mind that while the club was changing hands kenny was the right person to steady the ship and unite the fans.
whether kenny was the right person to take the club forwards and spend 100m is another matter entirely but regardless he is here now and imho should be given the chance to right his wrongs. I don't think our problems are of the magnitude that can't be corrected with one excellent transfer window and some back to basics tactics.

I voted no, but it's more a vote of no confidence in the whole team from DC down to Keen/Clarke. I don't think it's going to work out with them all staying on. I wouldn't expect things to get better next season if they all stay. I see no evidence for things getting better based on the decisions and performances of this season.

I'm honestly not trying to provoke anyone, but seeing as we never actually released details of the fee paid for most transfers, and Comolli went on record to deny the reported sums cited for Henderson and Downing, where do we get these totals from? I'm not a fan of this obsession with gross spends anyway, but we should at least be clear what the totals are if we must use them.

If Comolli is going to be recommending who the next manager should be, I will become very worried. I have no faith in him whatsoever. In fact Im not sure what purpose he serves at the club.

the bottom line is we've spent a lot of money on players that have contributed next to fuck all. it's unfair to expect all the signings to give an instant return, a little fairer to expect half the signings to give an instant return but next to none of them? that is a fuck up which ever way you want to look at it. you shouldn't be spending vast sums of money to go backwards.
