Is Kenny doing a good job?

Serious question. Obviously we all love the King, that's never in question.

He was brilliant when he came in in January and turned things round in a massive way. But what are people's thoughts about how he's done since?

3 points off 3rd as it stands, unbeaten at home, playing lovely football, a credit to the club when being interviewed, why even ask?

Steady progress I guess. We're starting to play some of the good, one touch football again and he's signed some good players in Enrique, Adam, Henderson & Bellamy, with a couple of questionable ones in Downing & Carroll. We're still some way off though and we look like we still need a striker and a wide player to really get back to the top, results are too narrow at the minute which is why we're drawing/losing games, because we haven't got the fire power to kill teams off, but we've been brilliant defensively.. Give us a Van Persie or a Villa and we'll be laughing.

This!

If our finishing had been stronger this season we would be higher up the league. Our defence is solid and we are making the chances.

Yes. We might not agree with the tactics or teamsheets, or indeed some of the signings. But we have only deserved to lose one game, Spurs.
14 times in the woodwork, fine margin for 6-9 more points. Steady progress, playing some good pass and move football. Best defensive record in the league is something we dont give him and Clarke enough credit for.

Will be interesting to see what he does in january, and if we fail to get 4th some serious questions will have to be adressed.

But the club, owners, fans and manager are in harmony again. Football is enjoyable again, and a big part of that is down to him.

He's doing pretty well yeah.

He's made a few transfer snafus but on the pitch, I don't think many managers would've/could've done much better.

I'd give him a 7.8/10 for so far.

Yes he is, but his second half season has been considerably worse than his first and he's put himself in a corner by spending that much money on players who haven't performed yet - but we can blame Comolli for that anyway.

He's doing a good job, but I was expecting more.
Why?

No European football for instance and maybe even the fact that he had +50 Million to spend this summer.

He pretty much has 7 days rest between every game unlike the other top teams.

So yeah he's doing OK.

The teams in Europe don't play in the early League cup stages, we played on 20/8 Prem, 24/8 League Cup, 27/8 Prem then 18/9 Prem 21/9 League cup, 24/9 prem . 22/10 26/10 29/10 same again then in noverember played United in the Prem and Chelsea in the cup TWO DAYS later, thank god we had 7 days between matches all year eh?

Yep.

Woland hits the nail in the head, couldn't agree anymore. Kenny's signings have been dubious, noteably Stuart and Andy - I still have some hope about Andy but not Stuart!

Think back 12 months.

Question answered.

no it's not. not at all.

AT ALL.

Overall, I think he is doing a decent job but not a perfect one, and there is still lots of work to be done.

On the plus side, as has been said, we are unbeaten at home, we are still well placed in the league, you get the impression that the atmosphere of the club is pretty good and a lot of the shite that the last two managers left behind has been moved on (some of them I never expected to see the back of!)

The downside of course is our inability to score goals and a couple of transfers that don't seem great.

On balance though he's done well enough, and certainly deserves more time

Now compare that to Man U, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal.
You can nitpick and say well during this period we only had two days. But compared to the top teams we've had a pretty easy schedule. We could even afford to play a friendly against Rangers. That kinda says it all.

Can I just do ManU?

It was the first team you picked and they have played 22, we have played 20, that enough?

Actually thats wrong :-[

Fucking hell the shit you have to put in to go on the ManU official is fucking like the info you need starting a mortgage

I remember the Skysports commentators giving a statistic about the amount of games Fulham had played compared to us all in competitions, Im sure he said they'd played twice as many games so far this season in all competitions.

A most resounding "yes" for me...

In any case, we should get out of the habit of sacking manager for having one bad year, although in Hodgson's case, it was more than justified. He was bent on making our club a laughing stock in the way he carried himself.

I still don't think Rafa should have got the sack, but at the time i was more indifferent due to having a seriously poor season, but what followed next was beyond the pale, and made me realize what a grave error in judgement that was.

Kenny has shown that he can get the club playing a brand of football that can give us our unique identity. For me that is the most significant part, all successful clubs stamp their autority on the game in a unique way. He has also proved to be an impeccable man manager and has the respect of media, FA, peer managers, and most importantly our players and management staff.

I'm firmly behind him...whether he likes it or not.....

Depends on what the goals are ...if it's only to finish 4th then we are doing well enough i guess although depending on results then we could be 5 points off that soon. I mean we are 6th , is that a good enough job ? Seems for most it is .

Look , don't get me wrong , i love so much about what the king is doing and trying to do but I am a little disappointed with how we spent large amounts of money on average players . Feels like a missed opportunity and i don't hold as much hope as lots here seem to that we'll spend big again soon and those mistakes won't matter . And nobody seems to be looking beyond 4th and asking are these players , who i suspect will be here for some time , good enough to step up to the next level we want ...ie league challengers . So far i am not convinced they can .

And i don't buy the argument that we were heading for administration and relegation so that means we're in a great position now . It was a crazy position that we never should have found ourselves in and once it was averted we were back in a decent position was some good players and potential , especially when we spent over £100m to add to that .

Anyway most here seem confident everything is going to click soon and we'll really kick on strongly so i'm hoping you're right ...guess we just have to see what happens over the rest of the season.
