Insua to Genoa?

Kevin-Prince Boateng is said to want to go there as well. Maybe they're making some big wage offers. Let's hope this one works anyway.

Genoa have bought some good players this season, i e Veloso.

They have some cash aswell.

The article states that Insua would be their 9th summer signing! I feel now that we need him to go. I don't get to watch us often and I was happy with what I saw of him last season, but it seems that I saw him on his better days. It depresses me though when young players leave - when are we going to have a "promising" player live up to or exceed expectations again?
Le Tallec disappointed, Barrigan didn't settle, Hobbs didn't make it, Nemeth is going nowhere, Pacheco's status doesn't seem that stable. It's a big spark for a club when players make it through the youth system and turn into stars - we've not had that spark for a long time.

On SKY just a few seconds ago :

Reports reaching us from Italy suggest that Genoa are ready to announce the signing of Emiliano Insua from Liverpool.

Party poppers at the ready!!!!

If it's one thing I've learned over the last couple of weeks, is that SKY is a horriblr source for news.

Let's hope this happens

I wish we had've signed Felipe.

Anyways, if Insua is off we'll get someone. I just hope that someone is half decent.

I'm guessing Figueroa. At least I hope so, Koncesky would be awful, as would Bridge.

Konchesky is off the market as confirmed by Hughes. Figueroa would be cheaper than Bridge and is a better player.

People are fucking crazy.

Reading this tread combined with the other post stating we should've sell Mascher, replace him with poulsen and ide the remaining cash to solve the left back makes you wonder.

Do People believe left backs win you any titles? They dont. Centrelines does. A left back can win or loose you the odd game, but titles are won only by solid centrelines. To weaken the allready damaged centreline to adresse the left back is beyond stupid. There are plenty decent leftbacks in the world. However even Maldini in his prime couldnt have rescued our season last year.

Insua has put in lots of promising and decent performances for us. To put on a party if he leaves are reactions showing lack of knowledge as well as giving his presence far to much importance.

Nobody's saying ALL the money should be spent on a LB. Besides, whether or not LBs win you titles, nobody ever won a title without a LB of at least reasonable standard. Last but not least, if Insua really had "put in lots of promising and decent performances for us" we wouldn't be selling him. Get over yourself.

Look.....Insuas shit and has to be upgraded on. Thats it...end of. And its 'the team' that win titles not individual positions, solid centrebacks are needed yes, but there are 9 other positons on the pitch. Ashley Cole and Patrice Evra are prime examples of world class left backs with league titles.....but they were playing in title winning caliber teams aswell. I dont think either of their teams would have won titles with Insua in them nor would he have been let anywhere near those championship winning teams. He's a mid table european (italian and german standard) player at best!

Emiliano Insua is set to be unveiled as a Genoa player on Monday after agreeing terms to end his three-year spell with Liverpool.

The Argentina international will finally complete a move to Serie A after Fiorentina pulled the plug on a potential transfer earlier this week due to his excessive wage demands.

But reports in Italy claim that Genoa, nicknamed il Grifone, tabled in the region of £4.5million to secure the services of Insua, 21, who has attracted the attention of several clubs.

Insua struggled to displace Fabio Aurelio as Liverpool's first-choice left-back following his arrival at Anfield in 2007 from Boca Juniors.

Despite enjoying an extended run in the first team due to the Brazilian's injury problems, Insua made just 62 senior appearances for the club.

I presume Figeuroa will be bought fairly soon so. Kelly can then cover RB wit Fabio coverig LB.

Surely the Benayoun and Insua cash will cover the fee for Figeura.

The benayoun cash was used to cover paying off Benitez.
