I might ask this question tomorrow, with another poll, but I'll substitute 'Brendan Rogers' with 'A Jar Of Pickled Eggs'.

Add to it infighting with every boardroom, a sacking at Inter, and a 7th place finish like where we are now.

His last trophy was in 2006.

That's not entirely true though, as he did win 2 trophies while at Inter.

So 2010 is the last time he won anything - ie when he was last managing.

In any case, Kenny's probably getting another year.

I always cringed slightly for Rafa when he was banging on about winning the super cup and the club world cup at Inter.

And you have, I suppose? Who would you have gone for then, ace?
Picking a new manager who can deliver the goods is like finding a needle in a haystack and there's no guarantee that my suggestions would be succesful but some of the reasons given for choosing managers (or not) on this forum are lamentable.

What were Shankly's, Paisley's, Wenger's credentials before they took over at LFC/Arsenal? There is every chance Coyle, Lambert or Rodgers could be our new messiah and I'd rather take a chance with them than one of the foreign suggestions (who I know little about) on here. I was against the appointments of Hodgson and Kenny and I would like my team to unearth the new Shanks and I have a feeling that Lambert and/or Rodgers could have stellar management careers ahead of them.

You make a reasonably convincing argument but it's still a case of going with what you know rather than the best man for the job. It seems foolish to dismiss the rising stars of other countries simply because there are rising stars in England who may or may not be as good.

Also I don't place much emphasis on the whole "knowing the league" thing. I have yet to see any evidence that it produces better results than bringing in quality from abroad. If anything, bringing people in who don't know the league can inject fresh ideas into the club and indeed the English game.

if kenny is removed, whoever they bring in has to backed and given time to put his long term plan in place. if there is a revolving door of managers I think it will finish us with regards to challenging for top honours.

If we'd paid a more realistic price for Downing and co, I could live with it, I could also live with the reasoning that they understand the league, they'd have provided a sound 'base' for a good squad, much like Barry and Milner and a few others have at City. But as you've said Keni, you need to add fresh ideas to that. A bit of invention which you often have to look abroad for. City look so good because for all their industrious players, they have creative players at the top end to reap the rewards. We pretty much have Suarez, and that's about it.

The best managers of the last while. Mourinho, Rafa, Wenger, Ferguson, none of whom had managed in England before.

I know Ferguson had managed in a similar league, but he actually took the longest to become a great manger.

It's hard to quantify the success or otherwise of foreign/homegrown managers at top teams in recent years because Ferguson and Wenger have been at their respective clubs for so long. Hughes flopped at City but then again so did Ericcson.

I never understood the adulation that Allardyce, McLeish, McLaren, Hughes etc received because they have never overly impressed me and I never would have suggested any of them as a potential LFC manager. I think Lambert & Rodgers offer something different to those guys and I DO think it would be worth the risk.

I don't always favour homegrown bosses either, I was happy with Rafa's appointment as he seemed the right man at the time and IMO his tenure was a success.
