Hull - Post Match

Anyone know why we have attacked one of the Hull supporters coaches with bricks and broken windows etc?

What else do you suggest attacking coaches with - caustic wit & dry humour?

I wonder if we're obliged to give Moses game time as part of his loan deal. Otherwise, like everyone else, I don't get it.

When there appears to be a gulf in class between your loan player and a 19 year old not long out of the reserves in terms of quality, attitude and work ethic... something is not right.

Because we couldn't find any broken doors.

Ha. That made me lol.

In all seriousness, it's cos the coaches are parked in Anfield which is a shit hole full of scally nobheads who have nothing else to do, I doubt it was fans.

Was sat in the Main Stand. Pretty workmanlike, lackluster performance but we nullified any threat from them and got the result.

Agger, Skrtel and Lucas all excellent defensively. Henderson was less effective played further back but demonstrated plenty of leadership. Coutinho has sweet skills but needs to learn to shoot. Johnson was disinterested really, little hustle. Cissohko very clumsy on the ball in the first half but played well second half. We dicked about with the ball in our half far too often, surprised we didnt have a Mingolet giveaway for a goal.

Some very nice one touch interplay in the second half but I also thought there were many stretches where we looked static and not presenting for passes.

Great to have Stevie get a run out but he really did seem to be on a bit of a stroll to me.

That's my worry with Gerrard back - it forces Henderson in to a more attacking role where he's not best suited.

I want to see Gerrard further forward.

Once again, I'm left scratching my head wondering if I was watching the same match.

Aspas and Cissokho were a pair of clowns on the field who couldn't trap a ball to save their own lives. I was fuming pretty much the whole time just watching them give the ball away continuously.

Yet some of you thought they played well. SAY WHAT ?!

I thought Cissokho was average. Aspas was terrible. Kept giving the ball away and falling over. The only good thing he did was to set up Henderson for a chance that he pulled wide.

Still, an Aspas start brought us yet another clean sheet. If I'm not mistaken, it's 4 clean sheets in 5 starts, with the 5th being the Southampton game, where Aspas was substituted at half-time with the score at 0:0. Amazingly, out of 6 clean sheets we had this season so far, Aspas started in 4 of them. Stats don't lie, people, Aspas IS the magic talisman for our defense.

My theory is that's because he loses the ball so often that our defenders never have a chance to relax or lose concentration. Keeps them on their toes!

Granted - but there are no other realistic options at LB & Aspas ic clearly out of form & not match for - so giving him a few games to see if he can improve us not ridiculous - particularly given that we have limited depth.

Aspas was very poor. Lots of industry but no touch or control.

Cissohko was better in the second half but we still miss Enrique.

Cissokho was very good (for him). Defended well. Didn't do much in attack, but at least he got the basics of being a full back right.

Aspas didn't play well. He was shite. But I feel bad for saying it because at least he TRIED. Effort should always be applauded.

Cissokho won every header and ground duell he was involved in, 12 out of 12, 100 %.
He was a decent attacking outlet for us even though he was a bit clumsy with the ball.
He's been shocking for us, but since he did his job defensivly to the t, I thought he played well.

Ha, me to. I was a fucking wreck when I was posting yesterday. Cheers for the info mate.

He should have had an assist!

He looked at times as though he didnt know where to be positioned and a couple times wasnt holding the offside line with the other defenders (although nothing came of it). It was definitely a better performance for him but I hope we will maintain better standards in terms of what we expect from a fullback. (We certainly roast Johnson enough and deservedly so.)

Absolulty. We should expect a lot more. But he defended well which was my main focus yesterday when trying to keep a clean sheet and win the game. Since he won the tackles and headers he had to make then thats a job well done imho.

Hey guys.
Thanks to Sheik I enjoyed this game from the Kop.
Not the most fantastic game in the world ever and not our most fluid performance but we still could have won 6-0 if our finishing had been better. Coutinho reminds me a lot of Luis 2 years ago and hopefully his finishing will improve the same way.

Standouts for me (from where I was sitting), Agger was phenomenal, he won every single ball against that mountain Sagbo, he dominated him and Koren and as Cissokho spent most of the game in the opposition half he often had two on ones and dealt with them superbly.
Skrtel was fantastic and didnt put a foot wrong, he made a few class tackles and blocks and generally bossed Koren and their other forwards, he also came out really positively with the ball.
Lucas was excellent, he works incredibly hard and always gives every player on the ball an option and he breaks up play really well.
Suarez, not his best game but EVERYTHING good we did started with him. He is so good, and his vision and awareness is second to none on the pitch.
I thought Sterling had a good second half as did Coutinho but the 4 above stood out for me throughout the game. Especially Agger who was utterly flawless.

Their roles ought to be reversed, I agree. Gerrard, for example, would have buried that chance from Aspas's lay-off. The problem with Gerrard, both in the attacking and defensive half, is his off-the-ball work. He lets people go past him without closing them down and seems every so often to be sleepwalking.

I agree with the majority. The core of the team was very solid and that gave us the platform to win the game comfortably enough.

The 2 centrebacks were outstanding, we had to resist a lot of free kicks and corners pumped into the box but defended them well and then scored from 2 set pieces ourselves.

Felt sorry for Aspas, he worked his socks off but the ball was a hot potato and he just flicked it on with more hope than judgement. Made some good runs into space but the ball didn't arrive, the other players don't yet trust him to any great extent - quite rightly he is very lightweight. I don't think he has the physique to cope with our League - he should learn from Sterling who is very slight but has the ability to shield the ball and is surprisingly strong so can deal with defenders leaning on him.

Cissokho was fine, easily his best performance and the coaches have obviously worked on his aggression because he was attacking the ball with more purpose than before. He is still not good enough for a permanent transfer but is at least not a liability.

All in all, a good professional job.
