Hendo is the captain by Klopp’s choice so he’s as secure as there is on the team, even if I don’t always agree with his selection. I’m a fan of his and he gets a lot of undeserved stick from clown fans who simply don’t appreciate his skills and gigantic heart.

Long term obviously is at risk because he’s already 29, so may be looking at 2-3 more years, tops, of him as a key contributor to the team.

He could hang up his laces as captain of league and champions league winners. Not many can make that claim.

[article]Crouch: "If something is working for the opposition, Liverpool have to find a way to combat it.

"They did that against Spurs, just as they did against Manchester United last week, and again it involved Jordan Henderson moving over more to the right-hand side - this time to help Trent Alexander-Arnold out on that flank against Son and Danny Rose.

"Henderson was just amazing, really. I think a lot of his work goes un-noticed but in the past couple of league games, he has shown how important he is to the team.

"There were times when Liverpool were defending he was still one of their three men in midfield but he was also getting out wide and nullifying Rose's threat down that side.

"Henderson made an impression going forward too. When his side were attacking, he was bursting forward down the flank, pushing Rose back and giving him something else to think about.

"He was over-lapping Alexander-Arnold at times, getting crosses in to create chances - and he got his goal on the back post, which is where a right-winger would be."[/article]

Jordan Henderson's touches against Tottenham
First half Second half

Henderson was pushed further out right in the second half, and pushed further forward. His one touch in the Spurs area after the break was when he scored Liverpool's equaliser

That’s what lHenderson should be doing more regularly scoring when he gets in the advanced positions. The scrutiny on him is justified with his game stagnating at best or even regressing..If he kicks on with this goal, we’ve got ourselves another option instead of just the front three and, occasionally, Milner’s penalties and Wijnaldum.

In the 2nd half he was essentially playing with the same set of responsibilities and positioning as a classic right-sided midfielder in a 4-4-2 – which was, in fact, his original position at Sunderland and his first season here! So we have this lopsided midfield 3:

-------------------------------Hendo
-----Gini-----------------------------
-------------Fabinho---------------

... and somehow it works.

Adrian let us down badly.

Not one save the whole game and he never even bothered getting on the pitch 😡
Not as bad as that guy in the German second division .. gave away a penalty and received a yellow .... and he wasn't even on the pitch, in fact he hasn't even played one minute for the club ! He was warming up behind the goal and returned a ball going out of play, however VAR caught that it hadn't gone dead when he touched it. Bochum scored the penalty but Fortuna Cologne still won 2-1 to save his blushes.

Not that lopsided TBH. When he attacks Gini drops back and in and vice versa (as can be seen in the heat maps above). So we have two occupying midfield for any breakdowns and recycling when attacking with the other midfielder drifting across to assist on the flanks. I'd be surprised if we didn't see a similar heat map from Gini on the other side (not as much as Hendo's obviously as TAA was our main attacking outlet but Robbo did his fair share too).

On that note we could see the exact same pattern when Gini went off and TAA moved into midfield with Gomez at RB.

It will be game by game but clearly Klopp wants to insert a more creative, dangerous, attacking midfielder into the team (and yes I did see Hendo's goal yesterday) !
