I don't think it is that far-fetched. We want him to take a pay cut to sign a new deal. Arsenal might be prepared to offer him a deal at his current rate.
If they offer 10 million, I'd sell yesterday if we have a replacement (Montoya?)
If they offered 10 million for a 29 year old FB who is looking to be past his best I'd be fucking amazed.
Even at his worst GlenJo always offers an outlet to the defence & often the midfield too, the effect that has on reducing pressure would be missed.

It's not that silly , but I just don't see us being offered a deal that makes it something that we'll do.
His value has never been lower, some improvement in form is inevitable so unless we're happy that we've got a permanent replacement lined up - either from within or a transfer deal I can't see us being keen to shift him

He's only got a year left on his deal come the end of the year, so that might force our hands.

I'd back him to finish the season stronger than his first half, so any diminution in value because of the contract will be offset by the increase because of an improvement in form in my mind.
It's not like we're risking missing out on a big fee by not shifting him now. I can't see us being offered much more than 5m for him right now.
We know what he is and how he fits, I don't think there's much advantage to adding another question mark to the team in the middle of the season.
I'd imagine it's a tactic to get Sagna to sign a new deal. But at the same time Johnson on current form isn't going to be a massive loss. Rodgers has created competition and hunger for places nearly everywhere bar the right back position, and whether its lack of competition or not Johnson just doesnt look interested. Maybe it's time for a change, just like with Mignolet and Reina. It might just be better for the team going forward. I'm saying this with a pinch of salt though...last time I criticised Johnson he went on a roll.

I fail to remember a very good player like Johnson looking so grim for such a long spell as has been the case this Season.
He needs to be dropped asap, despite being one of my favorite players in the team. I'd defo play Kelly for a good number of games now to see if he could get back on track for us.

I posted about this about 2wks ago, there's apparently real interest but we're unlikely to do business with anyone until the Summer.
I agree - Johnson's form has been poor this season and he doesn't look as if he is putting enough effort in. Johnson is one of those defenders with a vital attacking side to his game which makes us forgive his defensive limitations. If he's not going to be an attacking threat, it's certainly not worth keeping him as a defender. Kelly would do a better job in that area.

No! lol... I'm just saying there's been murmurings for a few weeks, apparently they want to do business now but know they will get him for a decent fee in the Summer and we'll be unlikely to want to sell until then anyway.
