Europa League Final: LFC vs Sevilla

Jesus, I'd take a loss in the final over a any one of our European outing under your hapless favourite Rodgers.

I didn't see you come on here criticising Klopp after the Villarreal win. Are you going to expecting someone to congratulate you for sussing out Klopp all along, you absolute twat?
To be fair, he's not having a go at Klopp, it's another poster he's having a go at.

I'm not taking sides, btw.

But for some reason Mark decided to start posting in the thread when we started losing

He's becoming exactly what he's been moaning about

I'm really not sure whether they were great in the 2nd half or we were shit, but obviously conceding a goal in the first 20 seconds of the half is a fucking massive kick in the nads.

When this team has its tail up it's great fun and looks unstoppable - but in reality it's very easily stoppable because at the first sign of a setback they just wilt.

No they do not - what short memories some of you have. I still believed in us even when we had 18 minutes left. It was a bad night and that is all it was. I am more worried about Klopp's cup final record when I heard it was quite bad yesterday that is the first time I started to worry as I actually believe that luck in finals plays a big part - he can get us there but does he have that luck to win once in the final.

Its strange to watch. He's lost it as badly as we did in the 2nd half.

It's not like this final finally exposed some hitherto unknown deficiency in our team. We've known all along that this was a bunch of weak minded, and inconsistent players. They just didn't turn up today so only the most dogged critic would pin this on Klopp.

And considering that from the semi finals, it would only take us 3 wins in the EL to secure champs league qualification, as opposed to 5-6 games in the League, as well as a bunch of other results going our way, it's not at all outlandish to reason that the EL route to the CL might be the sensible way to go.

Not outlandish, but not tenable either. Getting to the semis is already a tough proposition in a knockout competition and, even if you then have fewer games to get through than you would in the league, you have a correspondingly reduced margin of error as well.

I thought Klopp was very slow to react in the second half when it was clear we were struggling, especially in midfield, even when it was still one all.
When he did, he took off the wrong player and goodness he had quite a choice to choose from.
It has happened before too

Stop before he posts a 5,000 word pseudo-objective admonishment to show you he's really not biased against Klopp, he's just demonstrating that you know, Klopp's only human, in case we all missed that fact.

The tactical and motivational part might have been a dig at Klopp, or perhaps he was talking about the Seville boss.

Either way, the other post was aimed at Red Ninja.

I think we do. Dortmund was an exception, over the past two years we frequently drop leads when we are put under a little pressure and regularly fail to turn up for big matches.

Basically, we had greater control over those 3 games than we had over the other results of our competitors for 4th place in the league. I don't think that's even remotely arguable unless we were involved in match fixing.

Which is also fair enough given the shite he sometimes spouted back the other way - so everyone take a deep breath and chill out

Well what i had in mind was there's not much point in getting CL football when you're clearly not ready for it. Since ultimately it can get you sacked.

Its not about luck. We bottled it.
People can point the finger at individuals but in the end we were collectively shit and there was no Gerrard or Suarez there to save us.
We got exposed.

No we did not - and neither Gerrard/Suarez saved us against Chelsea. We tried but once they had the upper hand the one thing you can the opposition credit for today was their ability to take advantage of our desperation - which was something that Dortmund failed to do. They just broke up our play and did not let us attack in numbers or occupy spaces that would threaten them. It was frustrating to watch us tonight - more like a PL game where we failed to score or break down the opposition.

I agree.

It's not going to happen though, is it? Get the popcorn ready!

We lost the initiative right at the start of the second half.

Every time we reach a game, where if we win this we can narrow the gap to fourth place by 2,3 points - it is guaranteed we loose.

I noticed even Klopp had the air of resignation quite early in the second half. I'm not surprised, there's only so much you can do with the resources you have. In fact it's a miracle we got to the final really.

I wouldn't go so far as a miracle. We rode our luck to get to the final though.

But i'm guessing most will see it as miracle work by the manager start to fool themselves all over again

I read your previous post as making a general argument (that we should prioritise the EL over the league as a matter of course) rather than an argument specific to this season. If you'd said "was" rather than "might be" the sensible way to go, I'd have taken the point.

We lack leaders and some winning mentality. Several of those players cant handle pressure all that well.

Fair bit of overreaction here we played really well in the first half 3-0 wouldn't have flattered us and were within a Moreno of winning. Toure Can Milner and Clyne were all pretty good I thought
