Now that the pointless international friendlies are over, we can finally get back to the stuff that matters.

Palace away will be tricky. We’ve got everything to loose with Hodgson in charge, Benteke upfront and an early kick off after an international break.
A lot will depend on Zaha being fit for them. They seem to be a totally different team without him. He’s a doubt after picking up an injury.

Gomez is out and Can is a doubt.
Robertson is hopefully fit.
We need to be ready for a fight and hopefully we wont see a Swansea away display.

I’d go:

Karius
TAA Matip Van Dijk Robertson
Milner Henderson Gini
Salah Firmino Mane

I suppose so, although the choice between Lovren and Matip is close. And not in a good way.

I think the usual problem about a slightly pedestrian midfield with little goal threat would be the other contentious issue, and that's where Chamberlain or Lallana (if he was actually fit enough) discussion would start, replacing one of that midfield trio. At least they attack and run forwards.

Yeah, Oxlade for Gini could be a good shout.
I dont want Lovren in there and Milner has to start.

Gini was meant to be brilliant against Portugal

Didn't see it so can't comment though

-----------------Karius------------------
TAA----Matip------VVD-----Robbo
---------Hendo----Milner-----------
--------------Lallana---------------
---Salah-----Firmino-----Mane---

He looked bright yesterday, even if he wasnt fully match fit he looks infinitely more intelligent on and off the ball than Ox, who he replaced.

It was actually a timely reminder of what weve missed in the middle of the pitch, technically, atleast, doubly so since the rat left in January

We have had some pretty interesting games down there and even if we won some it has been nervy and a few players must have bad memories from that stadium. Get ready for a rollercoaster afternoon!!

We need to manage Trent. I doubt he'd play all of the four games coming up. With Gomez injured that means Clyne is going to have to play some of the games coming up, if he's ready or someone else - like Milner.

31st - Palace
4th - City
7th - Everton
10th - City

Clyne has been training for a few weeks now. Had two U23 matches. Not sure if we start him vs Palace to see if he's ready to face City. As Clyne would be our best bet to nullify Sane you'd have thought. But it might be a big ask, as he's been out so long and might not be ready, therefore Trent would be better to deal with him.

I don't know the answer, as we don't know how ready Clyne is. Klopp said a few weeks ago before we played United that he is a naturally fit boy & could have started if needed. But it made no sense with Trent & Gomez doing so well. Since then Gomez has got injured & Trent had a tricky match vs United.

So I will be intrigued to see who starts at right back. Maybe Clyne will play the match vs Everton, breaking up the City games keeping Trent fresh. Must admit I would quite like to see Clyne facing Sane, but only if he's ready.

Usually after Internationals Klopp does play quite a lot of the players who haven't been playing Internationals. I think Milner is nailed on to start. Sounds like Robertson is a doubt, so I expect Moreno might get the nod too. Given Can is injured or a doubt, I don't think we'll risk him - so Henderson should start as the 6.

The good news is Salah & Firmino both didn't play their last friendlies, so should be ready to start & fresh.

Did I read Mane got a knock?

I don’t think Henderson will start. He appears to be managed through the season so playing for England and City coming up midweek I expect him to start on the bench.

Early kick-offs are the devil and Palace is always a fearsome ground to go to. I don't even think a loss counts as an upset in this context.

I see Palace are around 5/1. We all know that's way too generous.

Surely the Palace side is full of internationals too?

It's pretty simple to set up, whoever isn't a shithouse on Saturday plays against City on Wednesday?

Zaha is clearly a threat , get Lovren to stamp on him early doors and let Salah and co commence the pillaging. 1-4.

Palace home record is 4-6-5. Last two home matches they lost 0-1 to Spurs and 2-3 to United. Tough but very winnable. 1-3.

And yes even up here I have a signal. That's China for you

Are you at the Great Wall now Froggy?

I am indeed mate. Hairy climb yesterday (80m climb at 80-85 degrees) and an impossible one today (steps had collapsed leaving a 10m+ vertical climb - not going to happen without ropes!) so had to detour and am resting my weary shaky legs to resume tomorrow.
I'll look forward to the pics!
