All down to Kenny, much as he was derided by many for how he handled it, it worked for us in holding onto the player.

I guess it's securing him in the short-term, without committing ourselves to a longer deal that we might have to pay compensation on should we cash in. There's nothing to stop us extending it if he's happy and wants to. It's still until 2016, that's like another four seasons and he'll be 29.
It's a tangible sign of committing himself to the club at an uncertain time.
