Could it be true? - RE Suarez

It's good news either way. We have a played who we all want here, that is one of the best in the world, who is on wages that most of us think is fair, that has just said he's happy to stay here at a team that hasn't been competitive in a few years.

When the club release the news with fuck all details, would it not raise a few questions?

He was already under contract for four more years, and we've given him a pay rise - some say tripling his wages for an extra years extension. I know people get caught up in the symbolism of him signing a new deal, and JJ or someone else will no doubt argue if we didn't give it to him he wouldn't have wanted to stay etc etc.

Spurs didn't bend over for Modric when he had 4 years left on his deal. So why did we?

Because we all know he'll be gone within 24 months tops, it's not like 2015 is going to come around and he's still here. Lord, that feels like a Buck Rogers year... 2015...

It does - Iggly Biggly!

Perhaps because it is a completely different set of circumstances, not least of all Spurs were in a much better place than us last year.
It's not a matter of having to give it to him, it's about being reasonable and paying a rate commensurate with his worth and the fact he is our best player. The reports I have seen say he has moved from £35k a week to £100k, fuck me Henderson , Adam, Lucas must be on £35k, and £100k a week for the closest thing we have to a world class player is not a shit-load of money either.

regards

On top of his raise, Suarez was also told he now has a VIP charge card at Frisby Dyke's. He couldn't believe his luck!

I saw reports when he signed saying he was on 70-80k a week. I saw some places report he went from 40k to 120k a week.

When footballers start being reasonable and accepting a rate commensurate with their worth in the middle of an bloated contract, I'll advocate throwing an extra 10-15m million at a player unnecessarily.
