Just read his comments re swapping all his clean sheets for success and attributing them to the team over the past 5 years.

I fucking love him.

Plus he fucking rocks the capins armband; should be a permanent fixture.

A 138th clean sheet. Overtakes Elisha Scott into 3rd of all-time.

Clemence in first with 324 (more than one every 2 games... insane).
Grobbelaar second on 267

Well done Pepe.

Both those other guys, great keepers both, had better teams in front of them.

I really, really hope Pepe finishes his career with us.

I hope so, but he'll go back to Spain at some point.

And, to be fair to Elisha Scott, he played at a time when the average match ended something like 7-4, due to the 2-1-7 formation teams played then

How do you pronounce Elisha?

Elyza? Eleesha?
Neither. El-eye-sha.

And regardless of who he had in front of him, Clemence's clean sheet ratio, let alone the sheer number of them makes him still my number 1. Doesn't mean I don't rate Reina as one of the best in the world currently.

Is this correct ? the OP on 6th Dec , states 100 clean sheets, fast forward to 2nd Feb and he has 138 clean sheets....... has he really played that many games since 6th Dec ?, or am I reading it wrongly 😱

Until recently I'd have agreed, but I'm in the Pepe camp now. Part of the reason is that I don't think one can reach a meaningful decision on something like this regardless of whom each individual keeper had in front of him. Their quality or lack of it has a direct impact on what's demanded of the keeper playing behind them.

This thread, beautiful as it is, is giving me the fear.

Have we learned nothing of the past 6 days ?

I implore thee, stop now.

There may still be time to arrest the march of the Jinx demon.

Brace yourself, Tony RT @TonyEvansTimes There is a transfer clause in Reina's contract. If someone meets it, he can go

Uh-oh

Got to want to, though, hasn't he? I get themn's point, but I remain hopeful.
Yeah, it's not a problem if Pepe doesnt want to go & the club dont want him too either.

I hope Pepe stays because all championship winning teams are built on a defensive rock and he is no doubt our Gibraltor.

He can see the evolution and there'll be revolution in the summer. Hope that motivates him to stay and achieve something special with us.

I think of the entire squad (except gerrard) pepe would be the hardest to replace because apart from maybe casillas, pepe is comfortably the best keeper in world football. losing pepe would be a blow. hopefully nesv show proper amibition in the summer and pepe resists the teams that approch him because they definately will approach him.

138 cleansheets; but the 100 reference is I think fastest ever 100 sheets.

Incidentally, Aldo regards Pepe as his no.2 best Liverpool goalie after Clemence, and thats high praise.

The 28-year-old has seen a number of his team-mates leave Liverpool over the last few seasons, as well as the manager who brought him to the club – Rafa Benitez.

With the departure of fellow Spaniard Fernando Torres to Chelsea on the final day of the January transfer window, reports claim the keeper is now considering his options at Anfield.

There was speculation on Thursday, Reina has a buy-out clause within his current Liverpool contract which, if matched, could trigger his departure.

Reina has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past and there is now speculation Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could be contemplating a surprise bid for the 28-year-old in the summer as he searches for a long-term replacement for the retiring Edwin van der Sar.

Liverpool fans have taken to club forums and blogs this week to discuss the possible departure of Reina, with some pointing out that when he first joined the club there was a large group of Spanish players and back-room staff who have all, one by one, left leaving the goalkeeper as one of the only Spaniards remaining.
