What say you men (& women)?

Big chaz adam

Does anyone think he'll make a better step up next year? Or will he do a similar job to this year, where people get frustrated with him and Doc Mac gets frustrated with them?

I think he'll have a much better year next year. We will know how we play, and he'll be coached more effectively so he knows when to release the ball and when to try the hollywood passes

Honestly think he'll be a good solid player for us. Slightly in the danny murphy mold

whens he's on form he's a great player, controls the midfield at times, i really hope he can be a lot more consistent, there seems to be no middle ground with him, he's either pretty good or terrible.

fuck knows whats happened to his set pieces though

Fuck off Fabio- this a crude attempt to trap me and it isn't going to work.
lol
I'm not trying to trap anyone. I honestly believe he will be a good player for us next year. He's got the ability, i think he just needed to adapt to being at a bigger club.

I think we should start buying 25 year old turds and coach them into becoming gems.
With the right coaching and a truckload of slim fast, I think Adam can become our new Alonso.

keep, he is good squad option.

Though it would dependent if we have to sell to buy.

Could raise 10-15 million by selling him?

We won't get that much for sellin him. Hes hardly enamoured the fans this season so i can't see anyone spending that on him

Keep. Hes a cracking option.

A turd with 10 assists in a team that wasn't scoring much. He is a brave player who has hit some amazing passes that have resulted in goals. He never hides. he created more chances than any other player in our team before he was injured. Some people can't see the wood for the trees.

Yeah, he's a good player. His form dropped when Lucas got injured, and to get the best out of him he needs a dm that covers him. Hopefully we'll play 4-3-3 a lot more next season and that suits him even better.

Great potential if he learns when to release the ball and when to shoot. He's been selfish at times when a pass would been better.

Compilations....good grief.
How's his short passing range? His positioning? His defensive ability?
Ryan wrote something about him that was spot on a few months ago....give me a minute.

Scott Parker
Johann Cabaye

Both similar prices, both better players.

All that typed, I'm doing Chaz a bit of a disservice over the last couple of days on here. He's not that bad, and he's not been that bad. In fact he's a fairly decent midfielder who's had some good games for us, so there's not much to hate. He's good enough for a side fighting it out for 6th which is what we are.

He's not great though, and he never will be. It might just be a personal thing, but I really fucking detest players who feel the need to ping a 30 yard ball when there's an equally good option on 5 metres away. It adds nothing, and I fucking loathe looking at it. It's got to the stage now where I see him drawing his leg back and all I can do is reach for the bucket or the keyboard. Play it simple, retain the ball, move and receive. It's fundamental, but the best sides going around right now do it beest because they do it easiest. I long more than anything for a side and for players that are fluid in possession, comfortable on the ball, interchange with ease and can adapt to opposition, scorelines, and tactics with ease. I don't want a fucking Arsenal playing the ball around like they're going through 90 minutes of foreplay without ever wanting to fuck the thing, I just want good football and good footballers who can play, can win and allow me to fucking enjoy watching them.

For me, Adam (and it's shit to single him out I know when there are plenty of others alongside and even ahead of him in this queue) doesn't represent that, and never will. He's just annoying me.

As I said in the other thread too, he is one of a number of CMs that are never flattered by playing beside SG in CM partnership. His worst games have happened in a 2 beside Gerrard. In a midfield 3, or with a more disciplined partner he looks much more like the thing. Whenever we have so many players who make nothing happen, I just appreciate having someone who can be relied upon to make things occur for us.

I challenge the haterz to watch the entirety of the 'handshake' Utd game. Watch how turgid we are, how no-one wants the ball. How the blessed SG is spraying the ball to utd players at every opportunity. Watch Adam come on, take possession and put us on the front foot for the first time in the game.

To say he is devoid of quality is patently incorrect. We certainly haven't always used him well, and he hasn't been at his best at times either. But that is more true of other, senior and junior players, who haven't received the same degree of criticism as Adam.

I still have (some) faith in him. He deserves some support going into next season. With a stronger midfield around him he'll be far more comfortable. And you should be able to learn no matter what age you are (Ray Kennedy was only a bit younger when he learned to play as a midfielder rather than a centre forward, Ian Callaghan was older when he moved inside, so I think was Digger when he changed his role, so it's all about whether the player is open and bright enough to learn. Adam needs to adapt and improve but he's a determined character and there's no reason why he can't do so.).

I actually agree with some of Ryan's criticism, and it is nice to see a more tempered post by him, rather than his usual analysis, which is to say Charlie is a chump.

The fact is that I think Charlie has been encouraged in some games to try out the long pass (to test out a slowish FB, to keep a defensive line to be in two minds whether to push up, or stay deeper) and it has caused frustration. In other games he has kept it mainly simple- he had a 94% passing accuracy against Brighton, for instance, and other than a few games, he had a very high passing average, so he wasn't always overdoing the long ball. That being said, his longer passes have lead to goals and dangerous situations too. If he had taken a 5 yard pass Johnson wouldn't have had the chance to grab the winner at Stamford Bridge. It is knowing when is the right time to push, and I do think he can learn what that balance is at Liverpool. He is not a stupid player, even if he looks fucking thick.

I dont mind him and like all our signings im happy to give him another year.
What (as i have said myriad times) is important in summer is signing one or two instant first team players who improve our starting 11. NOT circulating the decent players we have out in favour of other decent players. Selling Adam and buying (eg) Parker does not really help us. Signing Martinez and putting Adam on the bench does.

One or two class players and make the likes of Adam, Downing et al have to earn a place in the team.
I wouldnt sell anyone with the exception of older fringe players on high wages.
And I wouldnt replace them, I would just promote kids so we have younger fringe players on low wages.

Honestly if we signed say Jovetic and Martinez and that was it id be so happy.

Just wanted to add that Mr. Shithouse is twice the player Adam is and if Kenny once again decides to ship him off instead of that large tub of lard, then all hope is lost.

Sorry, let me try again.

I just wanted to add that I think that Aquilani is a better option than Adam, and if Kenny again decides to get rid of him I think it he will be making the same mistake again.

Adam isn't fit this Italian superstars boots.
The Italian superstar who no one wants.
The Italian superstar who has scored 13 top flight league goals in 9 seasons.
The Italian superstar who has been loaned to 3 clubs in 8 years.

But Modo "thinks" he's better.

The Italian who's going to the Euro's.
The Italian who's played for Roma, Juventus and Milan.
You know just for laughs and giggles let's put Adam on the transfer list and see if Man U, Man C and Chelsea are willing to take him off our hands or even loan him.

He's already on the transfer list, they haven't bitten.
