Like a rare comet flying across the sky, this was an uncommon instance of relevance from me.


Anyway: Chelski are a very good team who are probably as hard for us to manage as we are to Man City. It's just as it is. We only play them twice, fine, let's push on.

But the inconvenient truth is we just haven't really gotten going yet. It's all very well all the talk of adding winning ugly to our game, but that's something you say when you're already back in the groove. We're not back in the groove. We've just been winning ugly.

It's tempting to just say we started like this last season, in terms of the forwards' profligacy, but we really need to sharpen up. Mentally more than physically. We're just making silly decisions.
Until we do that in a game, I'm far from sanguine.
 
Anyways, a draw at theirs isn't a bad result. As long as Hazard stays fit, they'll probably be competing this year.

It's just the midweek loss that makes it annoying.

Did you not read the sentence before the one you highlighted. “Bad day at the office” was a polite way of saying they were shite. Firmino got sod all service so can’t really fault him too much
 
We didn’t play great but let’s keep some perspective, had 2 shots cleared off the line and Shaq missed a sitter, Salah fluffed a few good chances too, we had our chances and so did they, draw is definitely a fair result.

Impressed that we kept on pushing for the equaliser and my boy D Studge pulled it out the bag, Alisson was outstanding too, great all around, pleased we got a draw from that. That’s 6 wins and a draw from our first 7 league games, second on goal diff, it ain’t half bad.

From our difficult 7 games, won 3, drawn one, lost one, with 2 to play.

We go again.

This as well, Chelsea were very fucking good,
Jorginho and Kovacic especially, and we played them at THEIR ground.
 
We should aim for 4 pts off Chelsea and 4 pts off City. A good result today.

Next weekend, hopefully we can nick that game although I have a feeling Salah will turn up in that game.

A draw/win against Napoli will take the pressure off us in the CL too and would be huge.

Hopefully City lose to Hoffenheim.
 
I hate Chelsea but have a lot of respect for Sarri. Weird saying that about a Chelsea manager.

yeah, saw that and thought "you're too good for these cunts".
 
We could have been a few up before they scored but a poor final ball and finishing left us down. I thought Salah created some excellent chances for himself. Mane had one effort on goal but was quiet overall but hey Chelsea are a good side. The stayed compact at the back and will shut out a lot of the teams this season.

I wanted Allison to do better with Hazard's shot. He made some other vital saves so I can't complain too much.

Shaqiri was always coming on for one of the front three. I don't think Klopp sees Shaq as one of the midfield three. Delighted for Sturridge. The minute it left his foot it looked in.

VVD and Gomez as a pair were very good again. I'm not used to seeing us with such pace back there. Keita' s ability to carry the ball gave us a new dimension in midfield. Maybe he starts very City ? Not sure really. The same team will probably start again. It's great having such good options off the bench. Bringing on Keita, Shaq and Sturridge is impressive. All three can change a game in their own way.

Still unbeaten, 2 goals conceeded in the league is all. They city game should be another slobberknocker.
 
Thoughts:

- Our front 3 is oddly holding us back - when they click, we'll destroy teams. They're not nearly on form, and we're creating good chances. Hopefully, it clicks against City.
- I'm glad Klopp subbed Salah. He has to start with him b/c we'll play him into form, but he was just struggling and we needed more (which Shaq provided).
- Nice to know we have a world class goalie ... great saves & great reaction on gini's pass. Without him here, studge's worldie would have been a consolation goal.
- back 4 were fine. Chelsea are a good team, so chances will come. what stood out for me was Willian's breakaway. BOTH our CBs caught him and the picture of Vvd running relaxed and reassured is telling. i love this CB partnership and it will be there for 3-5 years ...
- No one stood out from our midfield 3 but they did enough. If our front 3 is clicking, this would have been a very good performance. That they're not, it puts more pressure on them and they couldn't provide that extra gear.
- Bobby is key to our team, need him to get back into his groove as that will open things up further for Mane & Salah.
- studge - lovely lovely finish. start him? No. Him starting pushes Bobby to the wing and that is pointless. He's a great option to have on the bench ... and he'll start every few games. He'll score 10-15 goals and earn another contract imo.
 
Alison - 8 motm made some great saves and kept us in it. Would have been a 9 but I think he could have done more for the goal

Robertson 6 poor today, gave the ball away a lot, missplaced crosses etc

Virg - 7 very strong all game

Gomez - 7 as above

Trent - 6 same as Robbo, not the threat he can be.

Henderson - 7

Milner - 7

Wijnaldum - 7

Salah - 5

Firmino - 6

Mane - 5

That front three need to fucking fix up.

What a fantastic game that was. Could have been 4 4. So delighted we got our deserved equaliser, because if you lose one of those type of games it's very difficult to talk about the quality of it. Make no mistake Chelsea are a very good side. And so are we.
