Carroll and Suarez?

what should happen with surarez and carroll is if the opposition sit deep then carroll should kill them in the penalty area (winning the first ball) and if they push up then suarez should punish them with the gaps behind. it hasn't worked out that way but that is not to say it can't.

I'm not that confident about the Spurs game.

I'm not confident about it at all.

Carroll has probably just about forced his way into the team over the last two games; Suarez and Bellers have to play though so maybe you play the three of them.

Gerrard in behind with Henderson or Charlie (who played pretty well tonight) and Spearing (who also played very well tonight) in the Lucas role.

Pretty narrow but it's not like we've been setting the league afire with our wide play anyway.

I think if you're going with three central midfielders then it's Gerrard, Spearing, and Adam. The only debatable position (for some) might be Adam or Henderson. Despite fluctuations in form, Adam has done infinitely more than Henderson to deserve his place. He got another two assists yesterday, and offers way more attacking threat in general. I think Spearing has played very well in Lucas' absence, and should pretty much be an automatic starter as he's the only one who can perform the defensive role effectively. Plus he's looking pretty composed on the ball these days, and tends to use it quite well.

The wide play can come from overlapping fullbacks (© spiderneil), who should be able to link up nicely with Bellamy and Suarez.

I've been saying all season that good movement behind an in form Carroll will lead to second balls being won & goal scoring chances in the box.

Carroll has the best header win rate of any player in the league this season at 61% & that stat was from before the utd game, so I doubt it's changed, in fact in sure it's bettered.

We need to exploit that strength by winning those second balls.

I wouldn't say the gap between Adam and Henderson has been as wide as that. Agree overall though.

He created three very good chances in the first half last night if we have to have players aware of the second ball.

carroll looking like he's worth a place in the team is a wonderful thing. i really really hope he can continue like this.

He did. I was over the moon with him last night. I got laughed at by my mates on sat before the match for saying he'd come good & that match & last night it was quite satisfying to have them eat some humble pie.
