Brendan Rodgers dismisses Manchester City link and puts Liverpool first

The times lot in general are a little slimey, just get the impression.

Oliver Kay's all right. During the Suarez/Evra fiasco he was the only journo I know of who, while criticising Suarez, was also independent-minded enough to draw attention to the serious weaknesses in the FA's disciplinary process.

If you rearrange the letters in Oliver Kays name, throw out the one's you don't need and substitute the remainder with the correct letters you get 'cunt'.

You have to say though, if City offered to triple his wages, sold him a story about a 5 year project, building the club, and utlising the most expensive youth development project out there, but also with the biggest budget in world football if needed...isn't that the sort of thing that would turn anybody's head?

if you're happy to walk out on your wife for some younger blonde, then fair to say he'd have no qualms about leaving his employer if something else he fancied came along.

Kenny would say no? No?

Rogers is an idiot if he leaves us for a 'bigger' club. Most of such clubs would have sacked him before Xmas.

I honestly don't think even Brendan knows how he'd react if he won something with us. There's a powder keg of vanity within him that only needs the rights sparks to turn him into a raving egomaniac, but at the same time he's a decent, earnest, thoughtful man. Getting to LFC was enough to make him want new teeth and a new physique, and girlfriend. Winning something? It could make him embrace the culture of this club so tightly he'll never want to leave, or it might make him start looking for something Barca-like. Hopefully we'll find out.

I think his vanity could work in our favour. If he really is that vain he'll want to topple fergie off his perch. Where better place to do that than with us? It's lovely symetty that would appeal to an egotist. As soon as it looks like it can't be done he'll be off though so the owners need to look after him.

Ahhh the Liverpool job is beneath him anyway so he'll not be missed.

I think City might actually land Ancelotti next season if Real doesn't win the league this season. Even if they do, they might still sack him because it's what they do. Not sure who Real can turn to after that though, as they've probably hired and fired everyone already. I guess it's Benitez's turn at last. Or maybe they'll come for Rodgers. 😉

Maybe Big Sam gets what he deserves in the end...?

Macca, you always hit the right cords. It's not just your writing, but you totally profiled him correctly there.

I posted something a while back...at the height of the anti-Rodgers hyperbole...about him being the management equivalent of a raw 20 year old player with bags of skill, enthusiasm and potential but still young, relatively inexperienced and finding his way. He's going to make mistakes with transfers, selections, coaching, man-management and the media but his positives far outweigh his negatives so I'd rather he was learning his trade here with a view to him becoming the LFC manager he could be than see him pushed out and doing his thing somewhere else.

Erudite as always, hitting the nail on the head. I just wish he was less eager to to talk to all and sundry when we are doing well.

BR does know that a role and a job are the same thing right? He needs an editor on tap every time he opens his mouth.

Agreed. Let other people work out what tactics we used, don't explain every tiny thing in detail. Vain and self-defeating.

I'd have been struck off long before now!

What was it you said about Parry - was it you? - Something about him being the guy in the office who says "Let me get back to you" - and then you realize a few weeks later he never got back to you, and probably never will.

Edit: I met Parry at a function in Toronto in 2012 I think? He was wandering around, a little off out of place, gave me his card (email bounced!), and his agent or someone quickly came and whisked him away from the conversation, while giving me a "look". Parry was affable.
