Fuck everyone who disagrees

Big season for the lad and I'm confident he's gonna take his chances now. Rodgers gave him a chance in the reserves to get match fit and to up his confidence.

He scored 2 goals against the mancs

I think he'll get double figures across all competitions.

The lad has something, don't write him off just yet. Big season ahead for him but he needs to stay injury free or will be sold.

Here's hoping. It's about time we had a good Italian player after the likes of Dossena and Aquilani...

I think his finishing is great.
I think the problem is where weve played him. He doesnt have the guile to play wide, and everytime ive seen him look excellent hes through the middle.
I would like to see him play in the middle but then Sturridge and Suarez are ahead of him.
Sooolook

There seems to be talent there but he seems to need an arm around the shoulder and a run of games up front in order to turn things around and given that it's unlikely that he'll get the latter... how's it going to pan out for him?

He seems a good lad and a grafter, but he's finishing and positioning is currently suspect.

he'd have to be all about clinical finishing to be a top player but he just looks like he's gonna cry all the time.

Can he even play in the middle of a 4-3-3 ?

He'd probably be better off with a proper strike partner

Definitely. He' strikes me as a poacher type who plays in the 18 yard box. If he's isolated (as he typically will be in a 4-3-3) he's not good enough.

When we signed him, he was billed as being someone who played on the left of the front 3. Can't see that. That said, he would benefit from a consistent run.

Works hard and good movement but lacks composure in front of goal. Don't see how he's going to get much of a chance apart from cup games as sturridge, suarez and aspas are all ahead of him. If we could have got our money back this summer i would have definitely sold him.

I don't think he's good enough. Hard worker, makes great runs, can't finish. Hope I'm wrong.

I don't think his finishing is his issue actually.

His touch is pretty fucking poor. Too often moves and momentum break down when the ball's played into him. You can see it frustrating the likes of Gerrard too.

Unless he sharpens up a bit, he's gonna be benching it long time.

A bit like Kuyt in that respect. I guess where they differ is that Borini lets his head drop whereas Kuyt just keeps on going till he gets it right.

I don't see how he fits into Rodgers system or style of play at all. He's certainly no LWF, nor is he good enough to lead the line centrally.

Hopefully he can be our Hernandez this season, bring him on the last 20 and see if he can poach a goal when we're dominant in the game. That's his best case scenario this season.

True.

Plus Kuyt reads the game far better than Borini. Even if Dirk was having a shit game, he still contributed defensively, held great shape, and worked his cunt off. Borinin's miles behind that.

I don't mind Fabio, there's potential there, but we're not really in a position to be playing guys every week and allowing them years to fulfill their potential.

And therein lies the problem with buying players like Coates, Borini and Alberto. They need games games games and we just leave them hanging.

The best solution would be to loan 'em out if we only intend on playing them very infrequently.

Completely agree. Been saying it for ages.

Rodgers seems to trust Sterling and Ibe more anyways.

they will only play here and there as well. the point is, you're always gonna have players in the squad who won't get enough game time to be playing at the top of their game.

The thing with Borini is that not only is he no better at anyone in the squad at anything, he doesn't look like he's ever going to be capable of anything uniquely ace.

Ibe and Sterling both look like if they work hard they could boss dribbling and creating and scoring for years to come. Borini just doesn't seem to have the natural talent to ever be able to play at the top level.

Yeah so make sure that those players are already past that crucial point in their development and can come in and do a job for the team when asked instead of looking a bit lost.

As things stand we've been paying a premium for potential with no real plan for actually realizing that potential. That's not what 'moneyball' or whatever you want to call it is about.
