This pre-season is spiralling out of control man.

Maxi
Aquilani
Bellamy
...
Agger
Skrtel
Carroll

for
Borini
...
Dempsey
Allen

Im really struggling to see what the fuck the grand plan is here.

I was at the Limerick v Man City friendly last night with 5 Liverpool fans and we all voiced this very same concern when chatting about our squad. It's all very well ridding the squad of excess weight but if you don't replace them the squad is weaker without any doubt. We'll see what happens in the coming weeks but so far i'm not expecting much from next season.

You know as well as we do that politics and economics always come into it.

Ok, based on the Times article (which is slightly inaccurate - we are paying about no more than half of Bellamy's 80k a week thanks to Man City).

Would you prefer to:

a) get rid of Bellamy and not replace him, saving 10-15k per week. 500k-750k over the year.
b) get rid of Bellamy and replace him with that money saved.
c) Keep him and spend 2m on his wages.

I think it's a no brainer.

If Bellamy is not capable of playing two games in a week, or back to back games at least, then we can't rely in him.
I like Bellamy, we should never have git shut the first time round
There is a lot if negativity around here, Maxi wanted to go last year and we convinced him to stay one more season, Dirk is just Dirk, sometimes he turns up , sometimes he don't, and when he did last season it was pretty average. Aquilani was never a Liverpool player in terms of being part of it, so what's the fucking issue. We bring in Borini , Allen and Dempsey and we are much better off than we were, that won't be the end either, I expect another player in and a good loan signing........ man-up the fucking lot of you
regards

That is good shit you wrote there Vlad - I got an extra testicle out of reading that !!! Good stuff.

I don't want to see Bellamy go, because our attacking positions which be extremely weak without him there.

He looked decent at the Olympics too. He would definitely be a loss.

I agree. But in this case I think it's politics. Rodgers may want to keep him but FSG's demands on how the transfer budget is managed, and Bellers' own preferences, may dictate otherwise.

What politics ?

Reducing the age of the squad ? He'll be gone next year regardless when his contract is up. The best we can do out of the £2m we've guaranteed him is to keep him and use him.

The other options are mental.

I suspect we've given Rodgers too much power, and he's going to spend all his time attempting to recreate Swansea instead of making the most of what he's got. So we can expect to be shitter than usual for a bit longer.

Wanting to leave because of family reasons is a bit different then just wanting to switch clubs.

Rodgers has said he wants to keep him.

Everytime I see that Rosco is the last person to post in a thread I hear the Imperial March and expect the thread to be locked.

It's not like his family are in Buenos Aires and he'll never see thme

And I honestly don't see why anybody should be sympathetic to Bellamy.

Do you support the club or the player ?

Nah, Rodgers has gone all power hungry mentalist, ask Ross.

I think you'll find that isn't I said. Just that most managers have a vision of what their team should be, it's usually something they fluked upon once upon a time at some point in the past and they spend all their time trying to recreate that rather than just be the best they can be.

Rafa never did that did he ? - we all expected us to play like Valencia but we never did. I sometimes wonder if it was becuase he thought that playing like his old Valencia would not get him a PL title (maybe it worked in spain to get their title) ? - just a thought.

Kuyt and Bellamy would have been great to have in the squad, especially if we're going to play 433. Sad if he leaves.

That isn't a clue.

You're right it was too obvious. But do you think this is all Rodgers' decision and that he doesn't have parameters to work within ? Add to that the possibility that Bellers just doesn't want to stay and work with yet another up and coming manager, or maybe despite Rodgers saying he wants him to stay he is secretly pleased to release a player who can only play half our matches ?

Multiple issues factor into this decision IMO and it may or may not have been in Rodgers' hands.

I agree with Ross.

We don't have to let him go just because he fancies moving but the idea of paying him off if we do is just mad.

I don't give a shit about his personal reasons. He signed his contract here less than one year ago.

I agree with Ross too, but can't see the point in hanging on to a player that is having his knees rebuilt and struggles to play more than a game

regards

Agreed, the problem is though we don't know the exact ins and outs. I heard last year that he had his heart set on finishing his career with Cardiff, and Kenny asked him to help us out for a season. If that's the case, then regardless of us losing him, I'd like to think we're at least doing it for the right reasons. He had alot of decency in walking away from Cardiff if that's the case, he did us a favor (and yes, I know he's been paid for it too). It's honourable. It might not be in our best interests entirely but like I said, we don't know the full ins and outs. And then there's Vlad's points to consider. When he was available he had a great purple patch, when he came back from injury he was clearly still not 100% and didn't contribute much at all. Unfortunately.
