Bellamy is off

I think we have a top four squad even without Bellamy.
Downing just scored.
Henderson has the potential to be one of the best midfielder's in the country and if Adam can reproduce the form he had when he came on against Man U we can definitely get a CL spot.
I think honestly think our squad is a lot stronger now.

It's obvious we are not done on the market but it seems a lot of clubs as well as ourselves are playing a waiting game. There's simply not the same ammount of money to spend as there where a few years back. Loads of fine players still in limbo all around Europe as everyone's playing a waiting game.

To be honest, out of Kuyt, Aqui, Maxi and Bellers I'd only be a little surprised to see the little Welshman leave the rest was pretty obvious and rather sound too for several reasons. And as none of Skrtel, Agger and Carroll are sold yet, we probably should take a deep breath and await our next move before going overboard.

Stop being a prat.

This is a really bad joke and a terrible one at best. This reduces our strike force from something like 60% of the top rated clubs to a about 25%. We are really screwed up front after this. Say how good Suarez is - but he is a shit finisher, Carrol needs no intro, and none of us are expecting much from Borini. It kind of hits me that anyone with any talent wants to leave our club or is someone to be sold of. Are we finally heading in the direction of Aston Villa - after all these years of trying to look big - has our final day come where we do start to fade away for good. Relegation here we come !!!!

Never has a username been more apt. Seriously, I'd like to think you had the self-awareness when you registered to warn everyone what to expect, but somehow I doubt it.

We are going to have to ask the younglings to step up for sure.
Hopefully they are ready.

I would back Rodgers on everyone of those sales. I don't see the problem. They are good players, but we need to replace them because they are also old, expensive and their ambition has been dulled by three seasons of performing like mediocre shit. The best thing to do is to promote the likes of Suso and Sterling in their place. It's still fine. The squad would be better for it. It's not a disaster. We could even stand to lose a few more if I had my way. Rodgers has done well to get them all out in an amicable and respectful way. It's good work by him that he deserves credit for.

Of course if he replaces these guys with Dempsey, or some other shit journeyman, or else if he sells Carroll then I will turn on him immediately. Perhaps even imagine ways in which he can be quickly removed, he must have plenty enemies in Northern Ireland.

I do agree with the majority of this post Dantes. And as you say its not like any of those who have left SO FAR contributed massively last year.
Maxi could have been good for us and i wont really like seeing Bellamy leave at all. The concern is how little we are recouping for them meaning we cant strengthen. I agree about the kids coming through too, Christ ive advocated that for years, but my main drive has always been 'Sign ONE great player' and then work with what you have. We have spent too long signing a bunch of average shite every year and i hope that ends (and I dont count Borini as i like a signing with potential) but we do need someone.Im not sure we have enough match winners. Well I know we dont.
And Dempsey in for Carroll wont help that at all.

There was no real sense in letting Maxi or Bellamy go.

Bellamy is costing us 30-40k a week with City picking up the rest of the tab. He'd still be a very good backup player to have next season, Maxi would be too.

There is plenty of transfer window left.
We could still make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Well we're not raising any money by letting these players go,and they aren't the ones who kill our finanical flexibility in the future.

This is the exact reason why I questioned our inactivity in the transfer window early on.
Sure there's still 3 weeks to go before the window closes but here we are, two weeks before the season starts with a somewhat decimated squad.
Isn't this the time when we ideally should be having a settled squad allowing the team to gel?
As it stands, I believe we need at least three new additions to be able to compete.
We need to do this quickly IMO. Gomel again in three days and 5 days after that we play Leverkusen.
We can't afford to be as disjointed as we were against Gomel when we play West Brom.

With the wages (i know you got a loin tingle when i said that) of Aquilani, Maxi, Aurelio, Bellamy and Kuyt combined we will save about 17m a year Ross.
SEVENTEEN MILLION pounds a year better off.

This pre-season is spiralling out of control man.
Kuyt
Maxi
Aquilani
Bellamy
...
Agger
Skrtel
Carroll

for
Borini
...
Dempsey
Allen

Im really struggling to see what the fuck the grand plan is here.

You're being very negative here - don't make me ban you for negativity.

I agree Modo. But you have to assume Mr Rodgers was told he had to trim the squad BEFORE he was allowed to bring his players in.
The squad WAS bloated and to be fair there is still one or two shite we could lose.
Im really hoping we work hard this week to sort this shit out.

If Bellamy leaves us and goes to Spurs ill lose a lot of respect for him. Leaving for his hometown makes sense, but why go to Spurs who are essentially in exactly the same position as us.

Yeah Oncy, I've been banging on about wages for years before people understood it was important.

But high wages doesn't necessarily equal bad.

Any wages paid to Aurelio and Aquilani were wasted, because they provided nothing on the field. So getting rid of them was excellent.

Name me a player who will provide us with what Bellamy did and will, and will cost us 2m next season (wages and fee combined) ?
The answer is there isn't one so it's stupid to let him go.

If you can't do that then it was pointless in getting rid of him.

If Sterling could be the answer to either of those questions it would be great but I'm not sure he is.

That's the only thing I can assume. But from what I gather, Kuyt left before he joined and he didn't/doesn't want Maxi nor Bellamy to leave.
He was probably expecting that Carroll would have been sold by now, which would have generated enough cash to buy his replacement.
Rodgers just seems to be a victim of the predicament we're currently in. To rectify it is gonna be tough.
This whole loan deal story smells of desperation IMO.

If Bellamy is not capable of playing two games in a week, or back to back games at least, then we can't rely in him.
I like Bellamy, we should never have git shut the first time round
There is a lot if negativity around here, Maxi wanted to go last year and we convinced him to stay one more season, Dirk is just Dirk, sometimes he turns up , sometimes he don't, and when he did last season it was pretty average. Aquilani was never a Liverpool player in terms of being part of it, so what's the fucking issue. We bring in Borini , Allen and Dempsey and we are much better off than we were, that won't be the end either, I expect another player in and a good loan signing........ man-up the fucking lot of you
regards

Doesnt really matter if he can play 2 games a week if he desperatly wants to move home. According to the Times, Rodgers wants him to stay but Bellers wants the move. So, this one is no fault of the manager.

Rodgers apperantly wants something like 4 players in ( at least according to some journos).

Cardiff City are anxiously waiting in the wings to snap up former loanee Craig Bellamy if and when he is able to secure an exit from Anfield but that 'if' is becoming increasingly a 'when' after Liverpool have now agreed a deal 'in principle' to cancel the remaining year on Bellamy's £80k per week contract.

Bellamy has always remained keen on a move back to Cardiff City, and that may well be a condition of Liverpools acceptance of the deal. The Reds will be required to make a 'significant' payment to Bellamy, thought to be around the equivalent of £25k per week over the season. That, plus the bumper wage package City have prepared specifically for Bellamy, would see him not lose out too much and Liverpool would save the remainder of his significant wage - which could then be used to sign another player.

Frankly I don't see why LFC should pay anything, let alone anything 'significant,' given that Craig wants to go and Rodgers has said he'd like him to stay. If he wants to go, fine, but the club seems to pay for everything these days!

I thought the same thing.

And another agreeing. WTF - if HE wants to go then he needs to to pay for it or stay.

All the manager has to do is say no.
