Aspas still raring to make a splash on Merseyside

Hey ho. He scored a goal. Against Oldham.

The only splash he could make is one into the Mersey River before swimming home.

Wow. Some harsh views on the lad.

I don't think he's the answer even if the question is who can be Suarez & Sturridge understudy, but he has something about him, he just seems to lack confidence & the strength to keep hold of the ball when he needs to, sadly the latter may mean he never gains the confidence he needs to impose himself on a match here.

He can barely speak the language yet you can still tell how pissed off he is about not playing.

he ran around and put a hell of a shift in today, harrying there players loads, ok it was oldham but still he worked hard and deserved a goal

He hasn't done in other games though, in fairness. Fans are usually fairly patient with players who are working their arse off, cf Crouch, he's looked extremely short of the sort of pressing principles that we're trying to instill. The reports from Spain did make him sound like a terrior on the pitch who was a real handful, we've not seen that nearly enough.

The thing that I find strange is that Brodge extolled the virtues of Aspas' attitude when he was being signed. He banged on about how he was a fighter on the pitch, chased everything, hated losing, ra ra ra. He made him sound like a diet-Suarez.

So I was expecting something along those lines.

He couldn't be more unlike that. He strolls around, I've never seen him sprint once, and everything passes him by without him looking like he gives a fuck. I don't mind when foreigners struggle to adapt, but when they look like they're struggling to care then that's a bigger issue.
I honestly dont know why you think that. I saw him against Hull and he honestly never ever stopped. He did little with the ball but his energy and running and harrying was excellent.
Same by all accounts against Oldham. I think hes ok.

My thoughts too

He ran fuck tons against Hull, it was all just for nought as his touch and strength let him down

The game against Utd could have cemented his affections from the supporters. Sturridge had a simple chance to lay it on a plate for him when he made some excellent movement to be completely free in the 6yd box and chose instead to lash it wide. He scores that, and he's an instant hero. As it was, he got very frustrated as that game wore on, and looked a liability. What he showed in preseason was that capacity to find space in and around the penalty area, and he did it again against Oldham, and showed great technique to finish what was an awkward chance. He might still play a role.

He's beginning to remind me of Vlad Smicer - got the skill and the willingness, but maybe not the physical (and possibly not the mental) strength for the power and pace of the Prem. I like his attitude and I hope it works out for him and us, but I have my doubts that it will.

That's a near perfect comparison actually, were we in Europe I suspect he would have had much more joy against continental teams.

Because you're not colourblind. 🙂

If they both look the same you're colourblind.

Been tested before.

I have a very slightly off green/blue compared to most people (Bex will sometimes say something is bluey green but mostly blue & I'll see more green) but nothing major. I also have a strange thing where certain shades of blue on a red background or vice versa will make my eyes 'go funny', the colours seem to move a little.

either you guys are fooling me OR what that lady had said before few years about me is true, she had said 'I am 25% color blind' 🙁 well i never believed her
please do tell me there is no number in both the images, but what i can clearly see is the color combinations in both the images is different 🙂

There is no number in the righthand circle. There is a number in the left.

There really is the number 45 in the right hand image.

I can't do magic eye pictures, If that makes you feel any better.

I remember the incidence regarding Aspas and studge in the Utd game, Aspas reaction was very defeated when studge didnt give him the ball. Well I really believe that lot of times Hendo could have easily scored goals but Suarez/Studge never pass him the ball, when Hendo is just away from a simple tap in.
And it was clear that just after that Aspas started to look different in that game, he has qualities, skills to turn away from defender and shoot, to find space in the box, even being at the right place at right time, when he was on right he did good work to get the ball in the box for the second goal, I think we should be patient with him till the next season when he will get more chances.
