Another Glen Johnson thread...

A new right back is definetly needed this summer

Or a left back and we shift Flanagan over to push Johnson even harder. Regardless, we need a proper fullback to help ruffle some feathers.

I see Flanagan getting flak in the post match thread, but I don't think he was that bad. Well, okay, he was shit for their second goal, but in terms of holding his own on his side, I think he did a good enough job, with Allen's help, to hold that side down. So much so that Norwich seemed to decide that they weren't getting much change there, and switched to focus on the veteran on the other flank instead, with great joy.

I don't see how much a player earns to has much relation to how he plays. I really don't care, even if he's the worst played player in the team, it won't compensate for his rubbish performance.

Regarding Kolo, he may give 110% and beat his fists on the ground everytime he makes a mistake but really don't think he offers what we need at RB, he's a heart attack waiting to happen. We need to stay calm and right now Johnson is the best option at RB, I really don't want to try Kolo against or someone else who hasn't played RB for us at RB at this stage of the season. It's suicidal to try it now...

What the hell is Glen Johnson? A warm, cozy comforting blanket?

All this Kolo Toure is shit, he's a heart attack waiting to happen, etc etc is hyperbolic lazy analysis. He's made two big mistakes this season, and none others of note.

What's Kolo going to do that's so horrific? Attempt to mark his man, and put in a tackle? Try to play forward passes to players? Properly place a throw in? Actually prevent crosses from going in?

Lazy as your analysis about Johnson being rubbish in every game.
Kolo has cost more than goals in 2 games, most importantly cost vital goals at vital games which maybe be few over the course of games but over the season it can prove critical (Hull, WBA, Fulham). It's not lazy analysis, maybe just perception but seriously comeon, Kolo at RB at this stage of the season?
No thanks
Surely you cannot defend the player in question after today's performance?

My analysis isn't lazy because I point out specific situations where Glen Johnson shit the bed each time. Your analysis is lazy because you can't point anything out but 2 moments of madness.

Suppose Anichebe's chance is saved by Mignolet, and Kolo's sliced clearance goes wide and we get four points there. But then today, Norwich draw us by scoring a third goal off that chance they had when Glen Johnson was dispossessed. And Manchester City also drew with us after Glen Johnson failed to stop yet another cross from coming in. We'd be in the same spot on the table.

Would you have changed your tune?

You're all moaning about Glen J when today proved that the reason we're sat on an 11 game win streak and top of the league is coz Lucas got injured. He is fucking shite and needs offloading pronto.
Keep him as back up. Otherwise, yeah.

You are missing my point, already said he was awful. Question, is who do we replace him with that a this stage of the season, it's easy to be critical but my point is, Kolo is a decent defender but I won't play him at RB at this stage of the season. If we had Enrique available, they a switch with Flanno would have been ok.

As backup for what? Bring him on when we desperately need someone to pointlessly shove poeple in the back and give stupid free kicks away? Maybe bring him on with five minutes to go when we're three one up next week to permanently cripple John Terry by stamping on his balls till they come out of his throat?

Not being lazy at all, you are missing the point again. You said he hasn't been very good at any point in the season, simply not true and lazy analysis.
You are being all presumptuous now, suppose and this and that. It didn't happen, what if Kolo's weird back header (Man city? can't remember) had actually gone over Mignolet. no point working with hypethsis because it didn't happen. Kolo is a decent CB but won't put him at RB. It really is that simple, need to get a good RB in the summer but right now don't see any options.

We can't switch him because a) Toure isn't better than him b) Kelly isn't and c) Flanno may be, but we have no LB.

Leave as is but I don't think GlenJo has a future at Anfield ...

Lol. I love that you still try to assess midfielders as if you have a clue.

We're going to win the league with Henderson having played 34 games and Lucas playing in 24.

Yeah, Henderson was crap when we got him and he's improved loads and I was wrong about him.

Lucas was crap when we got him, is still crap, and we won every game he was out this season because Gerrard did his job a zillion times better.

I never thought we'd get in a position where it was more important that we keep onto Flanno than Johnson, but we are.
Arsed if him and his 100k a week do one in the summer.

We should replace Lucas. Dont know if Rodgers will though.
Maybe next season.

He'll play less in the future though. Especially if we buy one more midfielder.
I'd love to swap him with someone like M'Vila or Gonalons.

Why would we replace the best right-back in the country ? What makes any of u think we can get anyone better ?

Because generally English players tend not to be in the top bracket of players

There are no better right backs around that would give is a significant improvement over what we have currently.

Ah so let's just keep him and watch him regularly put in inept performances.

There's good players out there, it's up to the Club to find them.

I'm not gonna rip into him, when he's good he's good, because he's a good player, but he's a questionable defender, I've always, always said that. He was poor today, and the general trend seems to be one good game/one poor game, two good games/two poor games. If people think that's good enough then that's up to them, he's an asset when he's on form, but he's not nearly consistent enough.

I think that's fair, though I'm sure some people will disagree and say I've got an agenda or whatever.
