Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez has always struck me as one of those that'll never play anywhere but Italy or Spain, in that case I don't worry much about our struggles to convince him, he likely just doesn't fancy England.

But if he goes to Arsenal it'll be fucking annoying.

City want Pogba as Toures replacement according to L'Equipe.
If that happens, Sanchez will go to Juve.

Objectively Rodgers can do a better job selling LFC as a club on the rise, narrowly missed out on the league last season, than Wenker who hasn't challenged for shit for beards.

Even if Sanchez does want Arsenal, I can't see it happening until they've played their qualifier in August, why would he risk no champions league? And Arsenal can't gamble the funds until it's confirmed. (look at Ozil last year and how that dragged) It's the bane of fourth, and why getting higher was so important for us with our shite seeding. Maybe I'm clutching at straws, but I think both us, and more likely Juve have plenty of chance to steal him from Arsenal.

Hasnt Wenger got 100 mill to spend? I think they'll buy pretty big before the CL qual.

TBH I'd be a bit worried even then. If he needed *that* much persuasion, would his heart really be in the move?

It depends on what is his main issue with all of this. If it's the fact that Barca are forcing him out, then it's not the end of the world. I don't think Robben was particularly pleased about the way he and the other Dutch players were unceremoniously booted out of Real (after winning the league if I recall) but that hasn't stopped him from moving on and excelling at his new club.

If Sanchez is unhappy with his pick of clubs and doesn't want to come to Liverpool in particular, then yeah, I'd probably less inclined to continue begging.

We haven't had a compilation yet, have we?

Forgot about that goal against Real Madrid (first in the vid). Sheer class.

LFC want Sanchez to replace Suarez and have NOT given up on him. LFC are in negotiations with his representatives. (Barrett)

Dont think it will happen mind.

When was the last time a top name established South American player came to the UK ? Aguero or David Silva maybe ?

There are few that I can think of that 'made it' here and moved on (e.g. Suarez, Tevez & maybe Masherano), there are many that fall into, or aspire to, the bracket just below (e.g. Ardiles, Villa, Luiz, Oscar, Willian, Fernandinho), i.e. very good players but not out and out stars, there are tons of great European players and Africa's and Asia's top players will come to England (probably because of their upbringing where Paris & London are places to aspire to).

But the very top SA players don't want to come here ..... they've made their money (as Sanchez undoubtedly will have at Barca), have a great lifestyle living in more SA friendly cultures and weather and England must seem a remote and cold country even though just a couple of hours from Spain/Italy.

I can imagine London, to some, overcoming that reluctance to move here if the inducements are powerful enough .... I can't imagine the North of England having the same pulling power. Sanchez must be praying that Juve find the money to come in for him no matter if the salary doesn't match that of the PL teams.

David Silva is Spanish.

Aguero, Robinho, Veron, Costa... can't think of any more.

I think there would be more but the rise of English football seems to have coincided somewhat with the decline in the number of out and out S.American superstars.

Some valid points there.
Latin players will always prefer Spain or Italy over England, and if they do come to England they'll probably see London as a preferred destination.
It takes big money offers to persuade them to the north or an opportunity to break into stardom (like in the case if Suarez). A top latin manager (e.g. Rafa attracting Xabi, Mascherano and Torres) or an extremely successful big club (e.g. MU when they attracted the likes of Veron) also do the trick.

All this shit? As in the 1 week he's probably been on holiday post WC and his agent may have had a couple of calls with him? Maybe calm yo tits a bit?

All this shit, yes.

If he doesn't want to play here, fine.

He can fuck right off.

Could it be a case that Sanchez is holding his ground for the time being knowing Barca want to do business with us? Perhaps holding out for a pay out from them, or hoping we increase our terms offered to him at a personal level?

I take it that it is safe to assume Barca and Liverpool want to do business here? Sanchez is probably thinking, fuck it, I'm not making it easy for them and wants to be paid as he is the one being ushered out the door.

Could be as simple as that the agent knows he has three clubs interested, and that Barca want to sell him to Liverpool, so he's feining disinterest to get the best deal possible.

Who knows. I'm relaxed about the whole thing. If we don't get him I'm confident we'll be in for another forward who is potentially very good indeed.

I am aiming for cock-eyed optimist of the year award here...............how about Jordan Ibe to replace Suarez. He'll be 19 in December, Rodgers has hinted he'll be an integral part of the squad this season, Rodgers played him (to great effect) down the middle in our end-of-season friendly against Shamrock Rovers. The kid has mad skillz, reminds me a lot of a young John Barnes and could be the perfect foil for Sturridge.

I don't expect Ibe to start the season as a first team regular but do expect him to end the season as one.

I can't wait to see Ibe come through properly. His potential is properly incredible.

All for giving youth a chance, though expecting Ibe to rise up to Luis levels is plain mental and foolish.

If Ibe plays half as well well as Sterling did last season, he would have made huge progress.

I'm probably joining in the over-optimism here, but I was thinking this earlier, we have Ibe, Sturridge and Sterling, three quality young players who could potentially step upto the plate and make a name for themselves.

There's been reports on twitter mentioning exactly this - he's trying to negotiate a payoff from Barca and might just get one if he comes to Anfield.
